Has anyone noticed if the bucks are chasing in south texas around Cotulla? I'm heading to the ranch on Wednesday for a week.

This past weekend the rut started. I watched about 75% of the bucks chasing does in Zapata county. Cotulla should just be starting as well, as its only about 45 minutes north.

+1, only saw a few young bucks bothering does, the older ones didn't seem interested yet. Should be soon though, this wkd or next the big boys will get involved.

I am in Dimmit county and the youngsters are chasing big time, not seeing anything big yet but for the next few days I will be all day in the stand, love this time of year. I saw a nice ten pointer last evening and he was limping pretty bad, must have been a good fight. Also saw a doe with an arrow through her head, never seen that before, she seemed to be fine eating corn and running from bucks.

When i was hunting last weekend the little guys were starting to chase. Ive heard from family at the ranch that they are seeing big bucks out in the pastures and by the roads and claim the rut is on. I'm goin down tomorrow for the last time this season, hopefully i'll get lucky.

Live oak county has been very very slow but I am optimistic it will start to break loose this weekend. It's about that time of year and the conditions are looking perfect.

This is the time for south Texas.

I'm hunting just south of San Antonio and the bucks started chasing a few days before Thanksgiving and have been on the prowl ever since.

A lot of the smaller bucks were running does early, but now that activity slowed, but better bucks seem to be roaming right now, and we are seeing some different, and bigger bucks, but fewer deer in general, which means the does are scattered and not bunched up.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
