just acquired a weaver 4x18x42 just wanted yalls opinion on this scope

I use the Weaver V-24 (6.5x24x42) and love it. Nice and clear, target knobs track correctly, and is as faithfull as I can ask.

Weaver is an overlooked name by most consumers. They still build a fine scope though. And their prices are reasonable too, for a mid-price scope.

I'm not sure what product line you've got, but I'd say it's probably a good scope.

I have an old fixed power weaver on a 30-30, you could throw that thing off a bridge and it get ran over by an tank,pick it up and hit a bulls eye w/ it, it is a tuff sob. to bad it fixed power and old, but it works well on that gun!

I recently took my 40 year old Weaver variable off and replaced it with a Leupold Var IIIX. I wanted more light reception in the closing minutes of the day. I guess I'm getting it but never sure. I kinda miss "my" scope.

I have been told that, due to technology changes, almost all new scopes are better than the best of the old ones.
