Every animal whether nuisance or game animal deserves to be killed quickly and humanely period end of story. If you are shooting hogs in the [censored] on purpose then you are a sadist and you need help.

EXACTLY!! If a HUMAN BEING came in my house without welcome one night with intent to harm me, my family, or my investments I am not going wait till they are broad side and make a ethical shot. I am going to empty 2 clips in there a$$ , on the run, behind a tree, or in the bushes, and after that i could care less what happens to them.

cbump thank you for having the intellect to be able to follow me and my point!!!! My final point is just that we have to be careful as sportsmen and hunters, we have an army of people who want to put an end to our way of life!!!!!Let's give ourselves a good name.

You don't have to state your case with me. I don't care what you do with your pigs. But to get all pissy and calling them stupid because someone suggests being a little more ethical is rediculous.

Yeah because someone breaking into your house and a hog at your feeder is the same thing....
You don't know how many times I have read on here that someone shot a pig or javelina in the gut just because they didn't want to drag it off.. Like I said, I don't care what you do, but I tend to agree with tuna. It is a little sadistic.

However, you will probably miss because you are used to taking eratic shots. Seriously, lets not compare protecting our families to pigs!!

you boys need to stay in the city and read Field and Stream...sit down with my grandpaw and listen to the stories of how he and my father and uncles didnt have food on the table some years due to crop destruction.....until u have personal knowledge and understanding of the damage they cause to crops and families...choose ur words carefully...im sure the cotton in ur panties came from a field my grandpaw defended against drought...insects....and pigs!

I hear ya man. I hate wounding animals, sometimes it happens, it sucks, but whats the point of gut shooting a pig on purpose?

Thats why i also said investments. becasue that is what is being protected.

And if i was "use to taking eratic shots" then that would mean that i have had practice and i probably would not miss. I personally have never purposely shot a pig in the gut and let it run off and die. I know several people that have. I also know that there is no law about make a good attempt to retreive a pig unlike all "game animals". sounds to me like the state just wants them dead by anymeans neseccary.

buckbuster, I wasn't aware that the hogs in Tx were so bad back during the Depression. I thought the very idea of them being such a problem was new to the last 20 years. You live in the Hatch, lot closer to the city than me. You are still missing the point even after all this time!!!

Guess that is why they are regulated on some state ground, huh?
Seems animals that are such a problem should never be regulated, at any cost right? You sir have still missed the point but tell everyone to keep taking those brush shots and hope for the best!!

That video sucks compared to this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiHmYsyVniE

This helicopter hog eradication company is owned by a friend of my cousin. I have no problem with this as it is necessary to keep their population down.

Those water turkey's are federally protected. However the owner of the ranch i hunt on has a permit to shoot them. They can be devastating to the fish population in a tank or pond.

To the op of this thread. When a person it trying to kill hogs, they have to shoot when they get an opportunity. It is not always going to be a perfect shot, if you think differently you may not have much experience with hogs. So don't start a thread for the sake of controversy. Start one when you want to learn something.

Ethical hunting is one thing, killing hogs is another. They are absolutely devastating to our fields and crops. When i have multiple hogs under my feeder i try to line as many up as i can to kill. I dont eat these hogs simply because they are from the Trinity River bottom and the meat is horrible, so i DO shoot them and leave them to run off and die. It beats dragging the nasty things. I dont care if it's unethical, they are a nuisance

I've never shot one that I didn't try and make a head shot. Then again I dont own a farm that I'm trying to make a living off of. I've never shot one that I didnt eat myself or give to someone else that needed the meat. .02

Edit: That includes the big boys too.

I always try for a good shot because I want to make sure they die and I like to ham it up (no pun) with the pics. Once they start running, I'm lucky to hit them at all. If I find them wounded, I put them down quickly.
