Dont know if this has been on here yet. Got it in an email. Pictures from a DNR raid on St. Martin's Island off of the U.P. on Nov. 19th, 2009. 31 Bucks and 9 Does on the pole, nothing smaller than a 7. Approx. 10 deer, antlers, and heads found around the camp. Also, a smaller mix of bucks and does... 10 deer without tags, another 10 with wives/girlfriends tags.

It is by the upper peninsula of Michigan near Greenbay Winsconsin. But it is on the Michigan side of the stateline through Lake Michigan.

Looking at the way things are set up my guess is that this has been going on for several years. Look at the way they have the poles for hanging the deer, it looks like they knew how to do this and have done it before.

Having a great herd vs dnr raiding them? Dnr ought to be taking managment lessons from them,,vs introducing and protecting wolves, banning feeding, no difference than texas, just fewer tags allotted. But in texas big buck($) gets commissions approval, Then again 13" is here, look for better bucks until the die offs, or stunting, starts: aka 70s hill country, long clip but worth while. Islands a couple of sq.miles,Native american owned and operated,

Well I like the old guy, he represents what hunting should be. There was a time when all you needed in deer camp was friends and maybe a bottle or two.
When your 90 years old and going out in below freezing weather to hunt with a muzzle loader your a real hunter; and there are fewer and fewer real hunters every year.

I agree with JJ. Everyone else in the video is complaining about not having any deer. They should take some lessons from the guys on the island about building up the deer herd. They've been doing this for awhile and still have that many deer. If they didn't harvest this many I bet the quality and health of their deer would be much poorer.
You can't really be lost if you don't care where you are.

Looking at that island on the map it appears to be roughly 60-65,000 acres and very isolated from the shorelines of the lake.
It looks like it's at least 20 miles to mainland, no telling how far to a harbor. I wonder how they get all of those deer out of there. It'd take a pretty big boat to do it in one trip.

Hey rich here I've been hunting there since 2000 and the pole your seeing is the result of culling the little ones. PS it wasn't a DNR raid it was jealous people thinking we were doing something wrong the tickets were for not tagging our deer in a timely matter. Over the years we let the number of deer get out of hand so this year we took care of it and let the nicer ones go. We had 22 people in camp and brought in more just to get the numbers down. Its funny how one picture can get so many people fired up. PS did you know deer swim and Rock Island and Washington Island are only 3 and 5 miles away!

I like the part at the beginning of the clip where it says hunters are complaining about not seeing deer, and it shows a hunter standing in a road moving side to side looking into the woods for deer.....

it was jealous people thinking we were doing something wrong the tickets were for not tagging our deer in a timely matter. I guess you just don't get it do you? Not tagging them "timely". Half your deer weren't tagged properly and you expect us to believe you weren't doing anything wrong? Classy...

Lake Orion, Mich. - A series of pictures circulating on the Internet of a buck pole on St. Martin Island in Lake Michigan is creating a buzz among the hunting fraternity.
The tiny island is located off Wisconsin’s Door County Pennisula, in Michigan’s Delta County, just inside the Michigan/Wisconsin boundary.
Despite reports of a poaching ring, which are circulating with some of the pictures, detective Lt. Wade Hamilton of the DNR Law Enforcement Division’s Special Investigations Unit says the photos are bigger than the story.
Michigan COs visited the privately-owned 2 1⁄4-mile by 1 1⁄4-mile island on a routine patrol on Nov. 19, he said.
“We made contact with 20 to 30 hunters out there in numerous deer camps,” Hamilton said. “We issued 11 tickets for tagging violations and cited them into court in Delta County.”
Hamilton said all hunters appeared to have permission to be on the island and that there were no trespass issues or other game law violations.
“The pictures are accurate,” he said. “They had quite a buck pole.”
The trip to the island was not precipitated by a complaint, but was part of a routine patrol.
“Officers have always worked patrols on various islands when time permits,” he said. “We weren’t there on opening day, but we made it out there by the 19th. There’s an old adage that you never know when a CO will show up, and we like to keep it like that.”
there you go Rich
