I have a pond that holds about 500-1000 geese.does any help that would help me and my buddies?

English please? You need help whackin' 500-1000 geese on your pond? When can I come?

And you're sure they are snow geese? Usually won't see them holding to a pond, especially for more than one day.

1. Call every friend who has a waterfowl license

2. Wait for the geese to drift over near the dam

3. Jump up and let three go, reload

Seriously, they are probably not going to stay long to begin with. Once you fire a shot at them, they're gone. Might as well get as many as possible.

well lots of things you can do... watch which way they come in and out and set up on a fence line well away from the pond and pick em off comming and going.

dont get too close or you will blow them off the pond on the first shot and your hunt will be over...

also if you have to hunt close to them let them start eating and making a ruckus and shoot the birds comming and going BUT ONLY SHOOT ONCE! you will notice that when you shoot they will get real quiet... that is because they heard the first shot and are now waiting for the second to see where you are.

if you put out decoys you are wasting your time because snows are the smartest bird around and no matter how good your spread looks the LIVE birds look better from the air.

wait for a south wind and/or fog it will increase your kill numbers alot. they fly low in a south wind and REAL low in a dence fog... make sure if you are hunting a foggy day thay it is not just a ground fog because they will fly above it and you will never see them.

another thing if you get a good south wind it will appear that the birds are almost still in the air... you still need to lead em! because the wind will carry the shot... it is really cool to watch one comming at you for 2 or 3 min! It seems like they will never get into range .

you could do this in conservation season and take the plug out of your gun! GOOD TIMES!!!!!!

Hey this reminds me how do you know when it's gonna be fog the next day? I could be missing something but I don't remember seeing that on weather reports. Can they predict fog very far out? I know it has something to do with air temp versus ground temp or air temp versus humidity or something so it seems to me like you could pretty much call a fog at least a couple days in advance.

I have to disagree. I used to have a pond down near Brazoria county that help 1000+ geese for a couple weeks at a time every year. Mainly cause it was some of the only good water around. Depending on the ater situation in the given location, a good pond will hold geese if that is the water that is available.

I usually go by the dew point and air temp when they are close you have a good chance for fog

if you are by sherman, they are probably using the area for the next 3 months keying in on Haggerman NWR. Not unusual to see many snows on ponds in that area. If you bust them off the pond, its one and done and wont see them again. If you lv alone, their #s will build. Best bet is to follow them when they take off in am and figure out what wheat field they are using and get permission and be there with a decent spread and hammer them. You can watch the #s of snows build on the refuge on their website and give you an idea when their population peaks, usually mid-feb. Good luck

A temp and dew point spread of about 3 and light to no wind will pretty much guarantee the formation of fog. Hope this helps.
