Well I always take off the week after Thanksgiving and head to the ranch after we eat and everyone is gone belly full say bye to my 4yr son and wife and head to the lease. I show up and the land owner comes over and says to shoot the BIG 10PT at my buddys stand. Well before some call BS I put all the corn in this blind all summer and clean up around his stand all year. Here is the thing my Buddy has Cancer so now you know why plus we don't claim stands we hunt them all. But anyway I see this 10pt 5 times and never pull the trigger b/c in the back of my mind I want him to shoot this deer b/c it might be his last ( WE HOPE NOT ) but then I go to my blind on the other side of the ranch and the deer shows up no trigger pull just can't do it. Well my buddy shows up Friday and I tell him about the deer he hunt there 3 times NO DEER I am thinking man this deer is good but Saterday night I hear a shot he calls me and says DEER DOWN man you thought this was the moster of a lifetime to hear him on the phone. I get over there and it's the BIG 10PT the deer scored 145 and was a nice deer in anybodys book 6yr old. I was glad to see him get this deer b/c he was walking around like he just won the lotto just awesome to see. We have alot of 160 class deer but they are young but this was just as good he told me he had been waiting on a deer like this for 6 years. Anyway thought I would share b/c my buddy got a buck of a lifetime and we hope we can get him another one next year.

That's great auctioneer. 3 yrs ago I was hunting my lease buddy's blind (we hunt them all too) but he wasnt there that day. Well, a 140+ came in and I was about to put the hammer down. I paused, and thought, this is a fellow hunter's set up over here and for some reason I didnt feel right shooting this buck so I passed. My buddie later shot the buck that scored 144.
His best ever. My buddie died June of 08. Glad I gave him that opportunity. It would have been my biggest deer too but I hope to have more chances! There is something more to huntin than just shootin.

My buddy has Colan Cancer he is doing better but the Kemo is starting to kick in good he has good days and bad but Saterday when he shot this buck you could just see how good it felt to him b/c Sunday you would have never thought he was sick he was very happy with his chest out like he set all the records. It was a great day for all of us and I hope he is around from more to come in the future. We hunt a great ranch and have a good land owner that takes care of alot of things around there while we are gone I hope to get him a bigger one next year. To see this guy kill that deer was something to see I am glad I did not kill that deer now if it where back in the day I would have and there would have been no problems at all we all get along great and never get mad at anyone for hunting a stand even if it's somebody elses feeder there or not we all put in the time to help each other out and if it's broke we fix it just to remind some guys we pay for the whole lease not just a stand location LOL... I will have more hunts to go ( GODS HANDS ) and I am glad I did not shoot this buck. I am a hard A-S most of the time but when it comes down to these type of deals my heart just can't take it just an old SOFTY when it comes down to it. I am 38 my buddy is 63 I hope to have him around a few more years b/c he is a great man and friend Thanks GUYS just thought I would share my GREAT WEEKEND at the ranch.
