I have never gone after hogs in the middle of an Artic front. But I have a group coming in tomorrow for a two night hog wacking. This cold front and snow has me a bit concerned...............should I be? I would think they would have to stir around and feed to stay warm and might even join sounders to help with body heat.

What is you opinion?

i'd imagine they would hold up in the thick stuff out of the wind if you are not hunting daytime hours. thats pretty typical of any mammal in cold weather. as for this incoming front....i don't know. i had some success last weekend but the only big one i got was in thick woods taking a drink out of a pond. he was drinking so loud it led me right to him. i'd like to hear what other people's experience is as well. This is my first year hunting hogs and i have put down quite a few, but i started back in march.

LOL well Brandon you are right, if they are out moving. If they are laid up in some briar thicket in the woods, I will never see them from the fields.

Thanks to all for sharing your opinions.

You never know what hogs are thinking. Rance was out last night and only saw one hog from 11:00pm to 3:00am. It spooked from 500 yards away. I think if you get into them, it might be the hunt of a lifetime, but you never know when you're going to get skunked.

I hunt as much as I can any time I know our hogs are in the area. I was out last night, but didn't want to mess with all the wind so I got home around 3:00 am (didn't see any movement). I watched the weather, and thought it was going to be worse than it is today ( i figured they would be moving b4 bad weather). I guess their natural instincts told them the weather wouldn't be as bad today, so they laid up out of the wind is my guess.

Well just made it in, we found hogs early ( did'nt get started till 9;30, long story) and the deer busted us, could have taken 120-130 yard shot while on the trot, but I did'nt think that was fair for the 9yo that was suppose to have the first shot. Found another group a short time later, they were all were big shoats, they took a couple of hits, but none went down. I think everything bedded up after that, did'nt even see any coons or skunks. The critters around here don't like 23 degree temps, I guess. Gonna get an earlier start tomorrow night.

I have two little girls; which means if GI Joe ever got to take a vacation he should come to my house...Ahhh, Estrogen Land! Where lonely barbies abound without a single man in site.
