If you know of an area with thousands of mixed geese, how do you hunt them? Do you put out decoys and just sit back, or do you call? And if you call, how much?

Well.....my suggestion would be to get with someone that knows how to do a setup for geese. It is not rocket science but there is a little to it! How to place decoys, what types to use, (full bodies, flags, rags) etc. IF you just want to try your luck, get some buddies together and set up your spread and dig some dirt and get hid as best you can, if you can not blow a goose call, this is not the time to learn, anyway hope this helps, good luck! FYI>>>>>> If you need and extra gun to kill them pesky sky carp, let me know!!!

It really is best to just invite a few of us "experienced" guys out there. You will learn more in 3 hours then you ever will on a discussion forum. This is not BS, and an invite out there will prove it To answer your questions...yes, you put out decoys and sit back very concealed. You do call depending on how the birds are acting. Sometimes you call a lot, and sometimes you don't even take it out of your pocket.

first you need more decs of all kinds than you can carry and set in a hour, to have the right shape of the spread so the birds work to you, make sub groups, snow calls work in most places but if in a lesser area you will need a honker call, take plenty of shells, they are harder to bring down than one might think, make sure you have a sandhill permit there free, as some said here take a good guy with you and try and follow thier lead, if not there is beginers luck, you cant have to many hunters in the field if the birds are there. if you have a good shoot you will be hooked for life, if you have a bad shoot your hooked the rest of the season

I was asking the question, because we hired a guide who didn't call much. He called less than 10 times in a 6 hour hunt. If the bird began to circle, he stopped and never tried again even if the bird started to fly away. It seemed like the only birds he tried to call in were those who were already locked and coming in.

everybodys calls diff. but if the birds are leaving it cant hurt to try and call them back around, if the birds are locked up why call
