My brother killed this last week while we were hunting in smith county. Picture doesn't really show how big he was but he'd go 50 to 60 lbs. Biggest I've seen. Hope the pic works.

That's because it is a protected red wolf. I'd pull that pic if I were you. nidea

It certinly does look like a Red Wolf! The only problem is they are vitrualy extinct in the wild so I would say no to it being a Red Wolf!

The Red Wolf had a bad habit of breeding with Yotes and thats one reason for its fall from grace! A full blood Red Wolf in the wild is almost as rare as the elusive Black Panther!

It certinly could be a Red Wolf/Yote hybrid, but in my opinion it carries way to much of the Red Wolf traits to be anything other than a true Red Wolf or a plain old dog!

Not a red wolf. If he is in Smith county; then it is definately not a red wolf. The coyote has some very distinct features that are evident in this picture. His haunches are forward and drawn and he has the coyote hind quarters. Nice take. That coyote has been eating good this year. Did you guys see any fox tracks around the area. My dad lives up that way and has seen a ton of fox sign this year and 3 nice sized fox.

that could easily be a dog/coyote mix too. thats not that uncommon, especially in the south.
