I passed on a nice 10pt on thanksgiving afternoon, and was just wondering if after you pass on a deer do they seem to get bigger in your memory, or were you talking yourself out of shooting. I had the buck in the feeder pen and could'nt get him to look at me to make sure that he was 13", but I do know that the right mainbeam was outside the ears at least 1.5", I passed because I didn't want to chance it if the left mainbeam was the same or not. He is definately at least 3.5 yrs old, and would have been the best buck in my book, just wondering if anyone would have done the same, cause I think back and wish I would have taken him. He seems to get bigger everytime I think about it.

Are you kidding? I've passed more 180 inch bucks in my mind than I can count, but I've never killed anything much over 150.

Seeing them a second time can sometimes snap you back to reality.

Guess what.....hes gonna keep gettin bigger for a while. Been there and done that, dont worry another one or maybe that one will come along.

If you really want an eye opening experience, go buy a video camera and start filming all of the bucks you see. When you watch the video later, you can see exactly how big (or small) that buck really was. Most of the time, he'll be quite a bit smaller than you first thought.

BTW - I think trailcam pics tend to make a lot of bucks look bigger than they actually are.
