i was wanting to know everyone diff things they like about there deer blind.

How tall?
sliding glass or open?
pop up blind?
color?
single or double?

just was wanting to get some idea on whateveryone likes. i was in a mini apartment fiberglass blind that was nice. has pop out shelves, sliding glass, insulation, full 360 view BUT what killed it was i didnt like being 15 ft up. not that i was scared but that i didnt like the elevation where i had to basically aim straight down to shoot anything closer than 115 yards

I had a lease a few years ago that I hunted for about three years. When I first got on the lease there was an old box blind that sat right on the ground and the floor had rotted away, and roof leaked, and it was full of spider webs, and wasp nest.

I turned it over on it's side and pulled all the old flooring off and replaced it with new wood and new 2x6's, sat it back on it's original spot but on cinder blocks, and put a couple of sheets of old tin I had laying around on the top to keep me dry. I covered the windows and door opening with some burlap, and that old blind was so nice and cozy on some really frigid mornings.

The deer were used to seeing it as it had become part of their environment and they never looked at it as they would meander past.

I'd sit there and think, if this old blind could talk it would have some really good stories to tell.
We took some big bucks out of that old stand, and when I left the place I really regreted leaving that old stand there.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

put shingles between the bricks and the wood.they also keep the bricks from absorbing water and keep the wood solid plus you use the shingles to level the stand 1 layer at a time as needed.

I was told on ground blinds to use a small layer of plastic after the bricks... any truth in that.

Mine is 5ft off the ground has steel base frame on steel legs.
3in foam floor with carpet walls are 3 1/2in insulated masonite inside OSB outside 3/4" insulation under R panel roof 8'x8'x6'3 tall inside 12"square windows flip up outside plexiglass slider inside has a bed and shelving also have a 12v batt with voltage inverter for the flouresent drop light (it could run a fl.light all night if needed but the cooling fan on the inverter is too loud) I like it all
