I am looking for a quiet and warm deer hunting jacket that won't cost me $100. Any suggestions?

Wal-Mart is having their hunting clothes at 75% off right now, at least in Denton. Bought my son a Remmington Realtree AP coat that is heavy and quiet yesterday for 26.00. Adults sizes were 30.00.
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

I like a cotton duck jacket like the Carhardt or Walls, and wear an LL Bean down vest underneath. Plenty warm and pretty quiet. If you want absolutely quiet and still warm, a good fleece like polartek will work. Check www.sportsmansguide.com for their sales.

Cabela's has a sale on coats and parkas right now. Some of them are over 50%off. They have some fleece ones for 70.00 and below.

If you are hunting in a box blind don't worry about camo. I picked up dark brown jacket at Old Navy on clearance for $40 bucks and it works great.
If you need the camo look at Wally World or Cabelas bargain cave if you are close to a retail store. Don't be afraid to ask Cabela's to lower the price even further.

x3 I also wear a couple of fleece jackets sometimes. It's warm and does not make any sounds when you move.

My criteria is cotton duck like Carhart, one size too large so I can wear a vest under it, and TOO LARGE MANY POCKETS.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Go to Sportsmansguide.com. They have a lot of cheesy junk, but they DO have the best selection of Military Surplus I've found anywhere. Just do a search for "surplus coat" and take a look. Some of it is camo, some of it isn't. In my experience, military surplus is made far tougher than commercial, and it's less than one tenth of the price.
For example, the German surplus "Fleck camo" goretex rain suit is better than any goretex I've ever seen, and the coat and pants together cost less than $50. I wore them in May for black bear in coastal Alaska and stayed completely dry.
It may be passe these days, but a mil-surp wool coat might be just what you're looking for. Or perhaps a Czech-surplus insulated goretex coat in olive green for less than $40....
