Not quite here yet. I saw 6 bucks this weekend, and about 20 does. I didn't see any indication of the rut having started yet, at least not in the behavior I witnessed. I did see alot of new rubs, but no bucks trailing does. I saw does in groups and I saw does all alone, and at no time did I see a buck showing any interest in a doe.

What's does that have to do with does being ready?
I've had bucks respond to a grunt in early October. I grunted at an 8 pt this weekend after he started to walk away, and he showed no interest. He was about 150 yards away, and stopped to look back, and then just kept on walking.
We hunt in Houston county, and I saw lots of deer this weekend, but very little sign of any rutting activity. Typically, it really starts up here about the 2nd weekend and continues up through Thanksgiving.

We had bucks chasing does everywhere, hell even the GW said they were in rut in our area.

In Cherokee Co. small bucks were chasing pretty hard, probably still a week or so away from the big boys stepping in.

They are rutting around Huntsville - thick necks, scars on their necks from fighting, and chasing does. By the end of this week it should be primo.

Wow every Saturday, I thought it had to be the 5th. saturday of the calendar month, according to my wife. We saw some rutting action at our place in East Texas. I got to witness a little tussle between two fork horns. My son and dad saw a buck (legal) vacuming the pasture as my son said. Dad said he had his nose to the ground and was making every step that some does that had previously been out in the field did. Should be on like donkey kong this week and weekend. Soon as I am done with work I'm headed back out .
