 My 9 Year Old Scores - First Buck!

Well, my son finally got his first kill. We've been watching two spikes since before the season on our family place. I promised he could have one. I took him this wet weekend and sure enough, old spikey came out right after daylight on Saturday. He made his first kill with a Ruger M77 Laminate Target in 223 Remington. The bullet used was Remington 55gr. Core Lokt Soft Point. I was a bit worried about this light round, but he put in on the mark and drove it straight through the center of the heart. The shot was about 45 yards broad side. I'm a proud dad! And Chris is acting like there was nothing to it! His Grandpa was there, too! What a family outing!

That's a bit much to ask right now, Brandon! He helped me and did a good job at not losing his cookies! Besides, that's what he has dad for, or so he thinks! I told him as we were loading the cooler in the truck, the next buck is on him!

We had 4.3 inches on Friday and it rained until around 5 am Saturday. Water standing everywhere. Luckily we had the 4 wheelers....
