I saw that, too. Probably too tore up to try and load it in the truck, I'm guessing.

Usually if there are big deer that get confiscated or hit by cars, they will be mounted and put with TPWD's displays that travel to different functions and marked as such... "Taken by poacher", "Hit by vehicle", and so on...

Isnt there a few high fence places right through there on 19? Maybe they escaped. I think it was two years ago I was driving in that area on 19 and saw some trucks pulled over looking at something on the shoulder, it was a big a$$ gator!

Txhoghunter there isn't a high fence on HWY 19. The 18 pt was hit about a mile south of Canton. Saw him quite a bit but couldnt hunt there . The 12 pt was hit on Hwy 198 going southwest of town about 5 miles out of town. They were hit on the same night within 2 hours of each other.

What a shame to have lost those two to cars. Either one would look great hanging in my den.... ;-)

It's pretty amazing that neither of those deers' racks were jacked up any. The few deer I'd seen hit by a truck had their horns all torn up. That 12 pointer is an incredible deer.
Picture removed. clowns creep me out.

I love non-typicals, but if I saw them both while hunting I would have a hard time passing on the one on the left.
If you keep your hair short and your mouth shut, things tend to run a lot smoother.

That picture has been around this year, I don't believe those were in van zandt county for sure, the other thread said they were confiscated from a poacher one night in deep south texas(somewheres in the golden triangle area) back in october.

I dont know about the deer but that is a Van Zandt county game warden on the left. I've seen him often on the lake. Nice guy but he dont play around when it comes to the rules.

One was hit on hwy 19 just south of canton about .5 mile south of city limits and the one on left was hit on FM 1395 north of edgewood in between fm 859 and fm 47.....talked to the trooper that worked it the next morning. This pic has not been around as this just happened a couple of weeks ago and both of these deer were in van zandt county. that is stapleton on the left and herchman on the right, he is a new warden that come from montague county. just wanted to clear it up..
