I woke up this morning with a fever. Not the fever that keeps you in be all morning but the kind you get when cold north wind starts blowing and the temperature just keeps dropping. A big push from up north means that there is new birds on the way and I could feel it in my bones. I was off today and my cousin, Micah and I headed out to the marshed to do some scouting. There were ducks holding in every hole we looked at. We found a great spot for the morning and were going to head in but couldn't help ourselves, we had to throw out some dec's for a little fun. We found a spot that wouldn't disturb our morning hunt and threw out about a dozen decoys. Micah went to go hide the boat and I had already killed our first bird before he could get back to the blind. The hard north wind had the birds flying low and they were working perfectly into our spread. I couldn't have asked for it to be any better. It took us about one and a half to two hours to get our limit. We got our 2 pintails and the rest were gadwalls. It was a great evening spend out in the duck marsh.

Good Luck to All,
Brian

Do tell which marsh! I hunted the Trinty river delta this weekend and had zero luck! Obviously any marsh is too big to encroach but it definitely would be nice to know if the hunting will be good this weekend.

DANG what a strap man! I've always heard that the second to third day after a front moves in are the best days to hunt. . .

Thanks, it would have been nice to but a couple of greenheads on that strap but I'm not going to complain. It doesn't seem like we've had many greenheads show up yet.

We hunt and fish Texoma. We were born and raised here and havn't found a reason to try out any other lakes. I'm a striper guide and Micah is a Denison fireman. He can be talked into taking people on a guided hunting trip on his days off if anyone is interested in a cast and blast. I have a winter special going starting Dec. 1 - Feb. 28 for $100/person (3 person minimum) Trips include all bait and tackle supplied, a minimum of 4 hours on the water, and your catch cleaned with the red meat removed.

It was another great morning out in the marsh. We had 4 this morning. There are a lot of new birds down that are decoying easily. We started out the morning hunting for the wind at our backs but the birds didn’t seem to want to be there. We had killed 8 birds which included teal, hooded mergansers, mallards, and a widgeon by 8:00 we were not seeing much action. We decided to pick up and relocate and it defiantly paid off for us. We were back in the blind at 8:30 and we had 3 birds down before Micah could hide the boat and get back to the blind. The only drawback was that most of the birds that were decoying were redheads and it didn’t take us long to knock down our limit of 8. We hunted up until around 10:30 and watch flock after flock of red heads hit the decoys. We managed pick out a couple of pintails, a greenhead, and a teal that were mixed in to add to the strap bringing our total to 20 birds. I love it when the ducks do what you tell them to smile

Yeah Tell him Jeromy Walker Says hi. When we were kids Out rapping someone house or riding our bikes into a creek from a dirt cliff all he talked about was swatting ducks up North with his daddy.

Hey Micah and Brian- This is Blake, I have the red and white Falcon and park a few slips down. We're about to start coming back up to the lake after thanksgiving. We need to hook up and do some hunting. I'm running into the same thing lately at Tawakoni, waves and waves of red heads and we can only kill two per person. I'm going to bring my duck boat up there and hunt in the next few weeks.
