Im not a rocket scientist but, You have a problem with a guy parking 150 yrds from the fence line and you are with in 80 yards of the fence line, your shooting in his direction and your bullet is crossing the fence line and your having a problem with him? If I understand you? Its him you have a problem with because of the available setups that you have on your lease. You dont need to talk to him because you are the one in the wrong. Over the fence line is in your shooting lane? Surely you typed your problem wrong. Also the right away belongs to the utility company not your lease. They could come and haul your blind off because you really don't have the right away, the utility company has it. They are the ones keeping up the power line and its suppose to stay cleared.

Looks like you hunt by one of the A-holes on here that can't stand the fact that some one will put a stand within eye sight of the fence. Move you feeder 10 ft to the right or left so your bullet won't cross the fence. Then make a fake stand and feeder and put it 10 ft off his fence and then he has a decision to make what stand are you going to be in. I just had a good idea I am going to put up some fake stands on the fence lines so I can piss some one off.

I would say talk it over a cold one. If not deal with it or move it. Hunting should be enjoyable. This will not happen if you are more worried about the folks on the other property. Vice versa. Who knows you could make a friend out of the deal.

I could care less whether they put a stand right on the fenceline - its the shooting lane directly across the property line that troubles me. The feeder is 30 yards from the fence - don't care about the angles, its right there. The poster even said the truck is parked "right in my shooting lane", even though he is parked 150 yards on the other side. He can't see the blind from his stand yet he knows where it is - maybe he can see it from somewhere else on his lease. And I guess the neighbor should have to park and walk even further to his own blind which he says is already 400 yards away.

This situation just doesn't stack up as to being the other guys problem. There's always more to the story, but from what I've read that is just my opinion.

Just to clarify,he is not parking in the area that i am shooting in,he is beyond it,just far enough to disrupt the flow of deer coming out of the woods close to the fence and on my side of the fence. And also,I AM NOT,HAVE EVER,AND NEVER WILL SHOOT OVER THE FENCE OR ALLOW A SHOT TO CROSS THE FENCE ROW !! I will let a deer walk before I make an unsafe shot.As for the utility company, they lease the easement from the landowner. If utility companies owned every piece of property that has power lines on them, they could control the real estate industry for the whole country.

Gypsyhawkeye - I believe you on your ability and intent to not shoot across the property line. I'm just asking you to look at it from the neighbor's perspective - all he sees is a setup pointed towards his property from close range. So he is probably just as irritated with you as you are with him. Discussing it with him is your only option to improving the situation.

You are right on the easement - every one is different. We just negotiated a new one where the power company wanted to put in new poles. They would not be able to touch any hunting related structure we installed along the easement (obviously within reason, we couldn't block their ability to drive down the easement). Ours is even different than the easement on the property next door to us.

Good luck!

Still I wouldn't want to chance shooting anywhere in the remote direction of someone else... too many negatives outweigh the positives....

And I catch flack all the time because in general I am not opposed to stands/feeders on the property line.

YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE DIRECTION A BULLET OR IT'S FRAGMENTS TAKES AS IT EXITS A DEER!

Besides, the neighbor doesn't know you or your intentions.

Your statements are not all clear. BUT your attitude is, bottom line is, he has more right to park there than you do to shoot towards the fence from 80 yards. You asked the question in your subject headline... WHAT WOULD AN INTELLIGENT HUNTER DO??? move the conflict in which he has control of. Never blame someone else for what you have control of........ PERIOD become an intelligent hunter.................. MOVE IT. I want to ask you three questions? What deer is there on your lease worth a possible accident??????? and is your, OH, IM sorry, worth someone elses life or the accident you might cause???? 3rd How are you going to stop that bullet you shot towards your feeder, 30 yards infront of the fence, before it crosses the fence line after it passes your feeder? #1 rule in hunting never point a gun or shoot in the direction of someone else.

There is no way this guy is for real. You know this topic has to be a mole, just to get people in an up roar. no one can really get upset at where this guy is parking when they are shooting towards the fence at 80 yards. Come on. Is he or this topic really serious. If he's serious I hope he's not reproducing.

Some of you guys make a valid point. BUT, you dont read everything I have written. I said I will be hunting this feeder with a 12 gauge with buckshot so as not to implement a riccochet.I have patterned my shotgun to the distance to the feeder and it is within the limits to have an effective kill zone. Hence,no stray bullets.

Again, the neighbor doesn't know you or your intentions. You can keep rationalizing all you want, but the fact remains, putting your feeder that close to the fence and shooting in that direction is not something an intelligent hunter does.

Won't hurt for you to just talk to the guy. I bet that if you tell him all that you have described to us, he would be more than happy to not park there and to not disrupt your hunting.

You make many valid points; but by asking a question, you have to be open to different answers because if not, there is no point in asking in the first place.

The beauty of the Second Ammendment is it won't be needed until they try and take it.

I remember something about a new state law a few years ago that you could not have a blind or feeder along a person's property line.

Gypsyhawkeye,

You may want to read your TP&W regulation regarding buckshot.
You cannot use it for deer hunting in this state, only slugs.
The more I read this post the more I tend to agree that it really can't be real, no one could be this arrogant or excuse the expression "DUMB".

Ain't it the truth. INTELLIGENT and HUNTER should never have been placed in the title.

THE WAY I SEE IT FELLAS,THE ONLY "DUMB" QUESTION IS THE ONE NOT ASKED. YOU SHOULD LEARN TO BE MORE SUBJECTIVE TO THE QUESTIONS THAT PEOPLE ASK ON THIS SITE AND LEAVE YOUR' PERSONAL OPINIONS UNDER YOUR' HAT ! I'M SURE THE MODERATOR WOULD AGREE WITH ME.I DO HUNT MORE THAN DEER OFF OF THIS FEEDER.I'M SURE THE BUCKSHOT IS FINE TO USE ON THE HOGS THAT COME UP TO MY FEEDER DAILY.I'M NOT OPPOSED TO SPEAKING TO THE OTHER GUY FROM ACROSS THE FENCE,I JUST HAVEN'T SEEN HIM SINCE THE LAST TIME I POSTED THIS.

Buffalo Bob,
Quick question for you...can you point me in the direction of the regulation regarding BuckShot in Texas? I can find where it says no BuckShot on Public Property such as the WMA's. I am sure I am over looking this regulation...I have searched the TPW website and I am not finding this info...Thanks for your help!

I can certainly empathize with your situation. However I feel that you should make every attempt to speak with the other person. I am sure that just by speaking with and getting to know the other person you both will discover that you are responsible hunters and can come to an agreement. You never know when you might need his help or he may need yours!

Good Luck!

Thank you Jason, good to see non-judgmentle folks here. dont know about the buckshot thing, just something brought up by one of the guys who posted on this thread. I have never heard of this either.the only thing I had ever heard was no lead shot for migratory birds,ie; ducks, geese.
