I shot my first dear last year in December and was hooked. 8 pt. about 15 inches wide. Been looking for a lease in the east texas area ever since. Still looking... I did get the opportunity from my uncle to go to Kentucky for opening weekend. I am leaving on Nov. 9th. I can hardly sleep. He says it has been getting into the 30s at night. Should be a fun 5 days. Just wanted to share my upcomming trip with yall and hope to have good reports when I come back.

Ok guys. Anyone got any advice to make me sleep. I think I have slept only a couple of hours each night because all I can think about is the trip to Kentucky. Last night I partaked in a few adult beverages, but still couldn't sleep. I am useless at work and just trying to pass the time

I know what ya mean. Every year before I go to Kansas I get that way, then I have one guy that always worsens the matter by sending me pics of GIANT BUCKS. So just don't lay down and start thinking about GIANT BUCKS and you should be ok. I know if I don't think about big ole mossy horned GIANT BUCKS. I sleep well. Good luck and have a great time.

Crown and Coke seems to be a good tranquilizer also, jb

Well I made it back. Was an awsome trip!!!! Hunting with family on a family farm. Only 64 Acres in Adair County Kentucky, but some huge dear have come off this farm. Several 130-140 class deer. It is hunted only by my uncle and his brother in law. Opening day was Saterday and it was 60 degrees outside at 5 am. We knew the front was comming through. Before shooting light I had a deer walk right under my stand. By 7 it was 41 degrees, windy, and raining. 7:30 I saw a doe about 300yds away behind some cedar thickets and jumped over into the pasture my uncle was in. He took him. My uncle is 50 and is a meat hunter but still gets excited like he shot his first deer. The next day I shot a doe that dressed 110 lbs. I got meat in the freezer. On Monday, our last day hunting we sat together in the morning and didn't see a thing. That evening we went back to that stands and about an hour into the sit my uncle got on the radio and said he had some big does running a fence line comming towards me. About 5 min later I heard the very distinct sound of the 7 mag go off. I could see my uncles hunter orange vest moving up and down across the valley. He got an 8 point that dressed 180. the deer are huge in Kentucky. I will post some pictures later and will need some help. I have now got an annual trip to the family farm for every openning weekend in Kentucky.
