It's painted plywood.... Any suggestions for a cheap coating to make it last a few years? Cheap is the key word

cheap piece of tin..... that is cheap, and will last a lot more than a few yrs... check on craigslist and u can usually find some for free, or find a buddy that works construction....

Yep, a 10 foot piece of roofing tin cut in half will perfectly cover a 4' x 4' roof with a bit of overhang on all sides, including overlapping the two pieces.

Reverse the blade on a circular saw to cut the tin.

Buy a box of those self-tapping hex-head screws with the rubber gaskets while you're at the hardware. Use a drill with hex bit to zip the screws through the tin into yer studs. Done! Total cost ~$20.

I used the roll on shingle roofing. Cheap and easy.

I did that on a blind once. It lasted two years before a storm blew it off. There's tin on it now for the past 8 years.

I found some R panel on craigs list cheap and had enought to skin the outside and make the roof out of it. Got tired of replacing wood stands so I made it entirely of metal. Shouldnt have to replace anything for a while.
