just wanted to put a bug in your ear.the other day i loaded my 4 wheeler in the back of my pickup to go get new tires put on it.well when i got to the tire shop i took my ramps and folded them out then straped them to my truck and unloaded my 4 wheeler.the guy at the tire shop put my new tires on and i went to load it back up well the front tires were in the bed of the truck when the straps broke the last thing i remember was hearing the ramps hit the cement floor.well when the wamblance showed up i was some what awake they started asking me things i should know like who is your presedent i didnt know or didnt want to know.the knot on my head was the size of a baseball and hurt very bad i was lucky just some bumps and bruses the moral to this story please check you straps on any ramps and remember cement is hard load on dirt if possible good luck.

Thanks for the reminder. I always hate unloading it from the bed of the truck. Glad to hear you survived.

I've loaded mine a bunch with no problems but it still makes me nervous loading it at the house. I back up to a hill at the deer lease which helps. Glad you're okay! Did it mess your wheeler up?

When you get past 50 years old buy a trailer. Sure its extra expense but much safer for us older kids.

I trust the ramp straps, I've always worried about the wheeler flipping and why, I don't know.

I made some steel cables and put on mine and used hooks that have the safety latch. You can get everything at TSC for very little money. I spun a set of ramps off like that and the 4-wheeler and I remained unscathed. I decided then, out by myself somewhere that could be a bad accident waiting to happen. Good to hear your ok.

I had the straps break on my tail gate while unloading my 4 wheeler. Lucky I didn't get hurt. I load it on a trailer now. It isn't worth the risk to me anymore to put it in the truck bed.

Three years ago I was unloading my 660 Grizzly with ramps plus I was on an incline. As it came off the truck, it went over backwards on me, with it running and gas pouring out the vent hose. I was beat up and sore but got out very lucky. Be really careful.

In the ATV safety classes, your instructed to stand up anytime your climbing a steep incline or riding over obstacles because it keeps your weight on the front of the quad, but it's also much easier to jump off your ATV when standing on the footrest than from a sitting position. Everytime I load mine, I'm standing on the footrest and ready to bail if I need to.

I never use the straps when loading mine in my dodge 4x4. I think I may rethink my loading procedure after reading this. I just put my artic cat in 4x4 low and it crawls up slowly with no problems and the ramps have never moved. I think I will be safer in the future though !!!

I haved a big truck. Tall and ramps short. I usually use a trailer but when I dont and load in the back, I walk it up the ramp.

I got by with it that way for a long time. When mine fell down, there was a big crowd watching and spitting beer all over themselves. After that, I added the cables. When on dirt, they dig in and probably give no problem, but on a slick and/or hard surface it can get hairy.

I know that most of us do it, but be careful of the cables that hold up the tailgate as well. They've been known to break, leaving the tailgate and ramps to both collapse from the heavy weight of an ATV. I know a guy who had it happen to him and ended up with about 30 stiches in his leg as a result.

Trailers are much cheaper than a life or possibly being crippled

I had a buddy that flipped his while loading it. His left hand knuckles were touching his left forearm when all was said and done. He went into shock and stayed in the hospital a couple of weeks and numerous surgeries/skin grafts. He now uses a trailer.

Mmmm Hmmm
