What's the scoop on pigs and pop-up blinds? Will they be scared of it if I set it up in the morning and hunt out of it? Thanks.

All I can say is, it can be a little scary when a herd of them come running by you in the dark.
To answer you question, most likely you will not have any problems, just don't put it to close.

Last time I hunted this spot I sat up on a cinder block with one oak tree between me and the feeder. I figured I'd be in a little better shape with a blind.
I plan on brushing it in a little bit, but nothing too extreme. How close is too close?

Ive had pretty good overall success hunting pigs out of pop up blinds. Their eyesight IMO is not what you have to go against, it's their nose. Try to set up downwind of where you think they will come in and you should be fine. good luck

I have not had very good luck hunting pigs out of a ground blind and I am at our farm in East Texas 2-3 weekends a month. I set one up where I knew they were going to be and sure enough three 100-150 pounders showed up. The first one looked at the blind (about 30 yards) and froze. When he froze the other two did too. It took them all of about 1-2 seconds to beat feet out of there double quick, and I was down wind of them. Most people I have talked to around my area have had similar experiences. I have found though that they rarely look up, I even threw an empty water bottle at one once when I was hunting deer out of a 30' stand and did not want to shoot in case deer were close. He ran about 3-5 yards, stopped to look around and came right back to the feeder. Cheeky little bugger so I shot him anyway.

I did it last year and had around 30 or so come in as I was getting out of the blind needless to say I got right back in! It was too dark to see what was what so I started yelling at them and it did no good, they where in a feeding frenzy and could care less. So I shot an arrow among them with my flashlight from my steady hand trying to line up my peep hole with the light and let er' rip and nailed one about 15 yards and then it was really on! A few of them ran into my blind and I kicked one. It scared the poop out of me and will never do it again.

I'm not looking for any man vs. pig brawls, just want to run an arrow through one. Maybe I can knife one if they get too close. I guess that is if I don't mess my pants first!

My official report is...Undetermined.
I didn't even see a pig while I was sitting in the blind. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Biggest hog I've ever killed was in a pop up blind I'd put out that morning. 443 lb sow that was pregnant. They didn't seem to mind.

as long as they dont wind you, I walk up on them all the time, they are blind as can be, I walked up on a sow at about 10 yards this week, didnt shoot her cause she was in the middle of the road and it was very, very muddy and didnt want to mess with it. I use a little one man pop up all the time, only drawback is limited view, little room to swing your rifle around, but usually works good for me.
