Went hunting this past weekend Fri-tues nov. 11. Sat. Morning get in my stand and see nothing!! When I got out of my stand I went and checked feeder to see where corn level was and timing as well. To my surprise the guy who leases land next to ours had park his truck in plainview of my feeder???? I went and talk to him and was everything but blunt to the guy and expressed my fear to him of accidently shooting his truck, he responded that he didnt care if I shot it cause it was an old truck anyway?????He didnt quite comprehend what the hell I wanted him to do. Well that evening he does not park his truck there and bam end up seeing deer. the next morning he parks his truck back by feeder and no deer sighting that hunt. that evening truck is again there.I see good buck walk to feeder and stops and looks at his truck and hauls arse. MY FRIEND AND I DECIDE TO MOVE FEEDER KNOWING THAT IT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK OUT. I JUST DONT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH A GUY PARKING HIS TRUCK 50-100 YARDS FROM MY HUNTING AREA. PLEASE GUYS YOUR ADVICE AND OPINIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!! what the hell do i do??????

Maybe try being blunt, since he couldn't take the hint.

you already did what you needed to do, you moved your feeder.

the other option was to tell him strait up not to park there but that would have got you no where. The guy is a prick, he knows he is parking in line with you feeder. He is trying to keep deer from crossing the fence.

poor dumb bas**rd doesn't comprehend it works both ways.

Move your hunting area??? I assume his lease is not on the same property as yours, maybe he is trying to be blunt and tell you to move, sounds to me that he has as much right to park there as you do to hunt there, and if you shoot his truck and he is across the property line, you violated the law, and he will be able to prove it.

I would move the feeder! He is obviously doing this intentionally???? I would move the spot and then park right next to his truck! I have a neighbor that does the same thing, but he has a 90 acre hay field with three trees. He hunts on two corners!

My buddy had a similar situation happen to him. Sometime during the week his neighbor decided to put a trailer blind up against the fence line perfectly in line with his feeder and blind. They have had alot of problems with those neighbors trespassing and vandalizing feeders, I think this is the final straw.

I think im gonna bite the bullet this year. The feeder we moved. He lives 6 hrs away so im assuming he will not be there all the time. My lease buddies have been on there for 5 yrs and said they have not seen much of him in last couple of years. I guess i will reavaluate everything at the end of the season and may have to just move.

I'd get the game warden involved

A couple years ago there was a proposed regulation that you couldn't put a feeder closer than 200 feet to the property line. I guess it never passed? Anyway, it's a good idea not to for safety reasons alone.

Several years ago while driving past the barn on our lease, bullets started whizzing by over our heads. The neighbors decided the fence on the property line was a good place to hang their targets. Our rancher was not amused to find a bullet hole in his barn. Neighbors were surprised their bullets could ricochet and travel so far! nuts

Glad you moved the feeder, and he probably is too. I'm sure he felt you were stealing "his" deer. And yes, he is being a jerk, but he does have a legitimate gripe, imo. The game warden would probably say the same.

I do not think there is much the GW can do. People that own and lease small properties can be jerks. I was on a lease once where the property to our north was basically an open 60 acre cow pasture. Lady thought that she could lease to 3 hunters. 2 of their feeders were on our fence line because out of 3 sides that were huntable we had the trees. They were a major pain. We bow hunted and all p'd in gallon jugs. The night before opening day we just went over and spread it all around their feeders.

nidea I'd try asking one more time. But since you moved your feeder it could be you will not have a problem anymore.. up

I feed Indian Corn, the deer really seem to like it and stay at the feeder longer......and longer....!

I wonder if the law prohibiting harassment of hunters in the act of hunting would apply here. Perhaps a call to the game warden would indeed help, especially if he's doing this intentionally to keep deer away from your feeder. Sounds like hunter harassment to me.

Thanks,

Marty

I had a similar thing happen to me on one of my leases, but i was on the opposite end of your situation. A douche bag came in on 278 acres and put his stand 40 yards from the fence, then put the feeder between his stand and fence and would be shooting right at the fence. These guys came in on opening morning doing preseason work. My feeder and stand is a respectful distance from the property and they ran all the deer off with all the noise. I understand why he parked there if you had your set up on the fence. And i wouldnt get the GW involved cause if your shooting that close over a fence you will be the one getting in trouble.

If you really want to know then why not just ask him why he's there. You don't have to be ugly about it.
He might not not appreciate your feeder being so close to his property line and/or your line of fire crossing over into his property. There could be several reasonsble reasons.
Of course he could just be a jerk.

If you've moved you feeder than it really doesn't matter.

Sounds to me like he just gave you permission to shoot his truck. BLAST AWAY! rifle

Seriously though, I'd have very politely asked him if could please park his truck a couple hundred yards in some other direction. If he refused, well, not much you can do other than move your feeder or stoop to the level of being a jerk like him.
