This is our 2nd year on this place. Last year all we took were spikes and does. There are 5 of us on the place. it is 1200 acres just outside Coleman. I Hunted one morning and 2 afternoons and I seen 5 different quality bucks. A 10, a 9 and 3 8's. One of the 8's was 2 1/2 and the others were 3 1/2. My goofy ares Moultrie camera only works when it wants to. Any way, we are letting all these deer walk since we have a gentleman's agreement for 5 more years with the rancher. The other hunters are seeing some quality young bucks as well with big potential for the up coming years. I guess I'll thin out the does and maybe a spike again this year and let the young bucks grow another year.

just curious as to why yall are waiting so long before u start to take bucks? We want to let them get to 4 1/2 years old before we take them. When we got the place last year most of the bucks were 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years old. We did see a small hand full of 3 1/2 year old bucks last year. So there are probably some 4 1/2 year old out there, we just have not seen them yet. If we do see them, then we may take one if he looks to have reached his potential. We are trying to manage the herd for better quality down the road.

i c, so it was mismanaged before? Yes, the previous land owner I think let his hunters shoot anything with antlers. The new land owner has had it for 3 years. His 1st set of hunters he kicked off for being total idiots. Now we have it and we have a management plan in place.
