Has anyone heard about this 174" buck that was killed in Young County? A land owner invited a hunter out to his land to kill a doe or spike and the guy kills this 174" deer. I know this is true because i heard it from the GW, but could not get any details from him.

Have a email into some people right now looking for answers. Was told that this guy was in Graham doing some type of seminar on hunting when he was invited out to this lease to hunt. Truly a sad deal for the land owner.

I know how the landowner feels. I had a "good buddy" do the same to me. We still gig him over it every chance we get.

Dont think he would have been my buddy any longer if he was given specific instructions not to kill a big deer like that.

It was classic! All my friends have wanted to go on a "Trophy Doe Hunt" ever since.

Yep I saw it...proud of myself because I guessed 180, was damn close. It has 20 points and is MASSIVE...forks, drop tines, you name it.

It was being caped at Clear Fork Saturday night when I took my hog in. They told me it was killed that morning.

I still think 174 is probably too low. I should have thought to take a photo with my blackberry but I didn't think to do it.

Ok, guys here is the story. The ranch is a 4K acre low fence ranch. The landowner is a very succesful businessman and had ask this biologist to speak at a function he was having. He was then invited to come out to the ranch and hunt, he was told he could shoot a management deer and this is what he shot. They only allow bowhunting. The real sad part is, the landowner has been after this deer for a while and everyone knew it. (and I mean everyone!)I have a friend that hunts on the ranch (as a management hunter) and has sent me pics of the deer alive and now dead. The landowner is a super nice guy and didnt get upset, but it had to be killing him on the inside. His son didnt take the news as well as he did. The score of 173 that was posted is very close. What excuse can a biologist give for doing this. NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there is a way to prove that he shot it without consent from the land owner then I would and at least get the deer back if possible and tell the biologist to get $#@#$%* lost!

OMG, that is right. There was no mistaking this buck as not being a management buck. My first glance of him and I was thinking he might be the biggest buck to ever come out of Young County. I would have been livid if I had been the landowner.

Either that or asked the "biologist" for the trophy fee.

I still have not got any pics, and not sure that he wants me to post them anyway. If he says I can, i will though. Still cant believe this happened to such good people. The thing is that its probably not about the money with them. Its the fact that this idiot shot a deer that they have been watching for sometime now, and was told not to.
