Man its tough to get in the woods off of feeders but I think thats what its going to take to find them. Whats yalls opinions on this. How many times have you caught glimpses of a hoss. Or sit there and wathc all the does and young bucks stair off in the woods. I put game camera's out this week we will see. I did one for a week and got a nice 8 nothing great but he did have some tines at 10"

You are exactly right.. I hunt in east texas Hardin county and everyone hunts the roads and pipelines and just a few backwoods stands because its so thick and so big and wet easy to get lost.. But a guy who had been on our lease for 25 years put me on an area of woods he used to hunt about 15 years ago that CANT be reached unless you really want to get there. Its really wet.. its really thick and its about an hour drive from camp.. BUT there was a big ridge by a creek way back in the woods and he saw a number of the biggest deer on the lease. He said he stopped hunting it because he got too lazy and old and he likes beer too much. But this was a HUGE sanctuary for deerand bucks during the season. So all last year we had to clear a small enough trail to get a 4 wheeler back there and then i get out and walk about 10 minuts in the THICK woods with my compass and GPS to my stand. I have been on this lease for 10 years. Bow hunted it for 3 and last year i finally got my first buck in that spot.. saw more bucks last year than i did in the last 5 years of hunting. I have the best spot on the lease and no one knows it or even WANTS to know.. so yeah the big woods means big deer.Sorry i wrote so much but it just really hit home with this experiance. lol

Also all i put in this spot was a well camoflauged geavity fed ground barrell full of corn and crushed apples. it was too far to worry about a feeder motor, timer, and battery and it worked great.
