Was going to hunt solo today but roofer (Carl) and I pm'ed back and forth and decided to hunt together. He is a nice guy and it was a pleasure meeting him today.

Our hunt was pretty slow, started out with about 6 teal coming in 5 min after LST. I dropped a nice drake, I think Carl shot at one with a kevlar vest on (so he says bolt). We then had 3 mallards circling and they disappeared but while we were focusing on them an immature gad drake came from behind us and presented a perfect shot at his underbelly. Carl whacked him clean.

Had one lone greenhead come within 45-50 yards after that and we each shot but he was too far away to bring down. We had been messing with the same duck for a good half hour. He orignally landed about 200 yds away and we tried to coax him with a variety of sounds. He didn't play ball until I used the darn blue wing teal call! Pretty wierd. That was it for the action. It was a beautiful morning and was great being in the outdoors.

Carl with the birds.

Sorry to hear it was slow. At least you got out on the water and met a new bud. I was trapped behind this freakin' desk all day... violin

It was a great time. I am still trying to figure out how that gadwall was not dead by the time it hit the water. It had no brains left.

A gadwalls brains don't count for much.

That beak color was troubling me. There was no green on the wing. It is a juvenile. It is dinner. Guess my pin whistle works.

We do not have them in New England. I will get it right next time, thanks for the help.
