Just wanted to drop a line to give praise to one of the pro shop guys at Academy in Keller.
I recently purchased a new bow at Cabela's. The guys were helpful and friendly but the bow was not tuned properly, not even close. This is obviously to be expected on a new bow but this was much more than your average tuning job. I went back to Cabela's and worked with the guys there trying to get it right. Three hours later and $100 lighter in the pocket book to replace the arrow rest that was less than a week old, they handed it back to me and said it was "pretty close". Pretty close!? Are you kidding me!!!??? I'm supposed to climb a tree and sling an arrow at a live animal with a bow that's "pretty close"!? I don't think so. I'd rather not hunt at all. Call me crazy but that seems a little less than ethical to me. Not to mention, it wasn't pretty close, it was even worse than before!!! All but defeated, I went in to Academy and met one of their pro shop guys, Eric. He spent three hours, skipping his lunch break, tuning and adjusting the bow. My nock point was almost two inches high. My peep sight was slipping because it was already coming untied after only a week. The mounting bracket for the front sight was UPSIDE DOWN!!! To top it off, the new rest they installed for me wasn't even close to square or level. He sorted everything out for me and fortunately when I left it was driving tacks and shooting smooth as silk. He was very informative and patient and treated my bow just as if it was his own. Paper tests, countless adjustments, the works. Did I mention it didn't cost me a single DIME!?
I've never had a bad experience at Cabela's on literally hundreds of purchases and thousands of dollars spent making this whole fiasco even more dumbfounding. I don't know if the guys were just having a bad day or what but anyways, kudos to a great job and a great guy. If you need a good bow tech in the N. Fort Worth/Keller area, go see Eric.

lol.. reminds me of the last time I took my bow to the local archery shop & asked him to paper tune my bow. he grabbed it, shot the paper, made one adjustment, shot the paper again and had the same tear as the first shot & said "I'd hunt that". lol there was a clear tear and I wasn't about to "hunt that". I ended up making my own paper tuning rig & tuning it then doing walk back tuning also myself.
