We got in the stand saturday morning and he was very excited. About 7:40 and 4pt came flying by chasing a doe. About 5min later a young 6pt shows up at the feeder. We hunt a place that's no more than 40acres and not a lot of deer. So i let him take the shot. I got the camera ready and told him to take the shot. Bam! The deer didn't run 10yrds before it was down. The whole time i'm telling him he's down, do you see him, etc. I look back and he has tears in his eyes, his nose and eye are cut and bleeding. I couldn't help but giggle because i have had the same thing happen to me with the same gun. But it was truely a proud dad moment.

lol congrats to you and your son! on the day I shot my first one we had a pair of bobcats come in and I smoked the first on then the other one ran a little ways and stopped and I got in a hurry and gave my self a goose egg above my eye... bout 30 min later I got my first buck (a big spike) but boy was I dizzy!

Lets see some pics!

Kid pics with their animals are by far the best pics! Congrats to your son and his first buck. Plenty of guys have had a little scope kiss before. I still get a bloody nose every now and then after a shot. Don't ask me how. Maybe I've got weak nostrils laugh

I got a really really deep nasty one laying prone from a 270wsm. I bleed all over the place. But I am proud of my scare. Tell good job for us and he aint the only one as he already knows. I felt real dumb. Then I started telling people about it and they laugh at first then show me there scare. What was he shooting?

nice!!!!

as for the getting scoped, it sucks..... ive only had it happen once, i was shooting a coon outta with a .270 while holding a spotlight, and shot, the thing hit me square in the fore head between the eyes, i didnt think much of it. then driving back home i go to wipe the "sweat off my face" it was blood. get home, my mom is still awake and sees me walk in with blood all over my face and all down my shirt. SHE FREAKS!!!! but it was fine, still have the scar.

Nice, good job to your son and you for taking him.

If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.
