My Old Girl isnt doing well

My Old Girl isnt doing well - 08/15/23 02:41 PM

14.5 year old heeler mixed with some kind of pointer.

she has been losing mobility over the last couple years but has declined in the last couple months a good bit.

the last few weeks she has started throwing up sometimes multiple times a day, i thought it was heat related so i have kept he exclusively inside except for 30 minute at a time.

She threw up several times last night. She drank water like normal and then threw it all up.

She has always been a BIG eater...girl loves her food. The last couple days she has eaten very little.

Worried about the inevitable and i know I dont want to face the music but after last night I know i need to. I am setting up an appt with vet as i type this.

Thoughts are with you and your girl.

I'm going through similar with my Blue Lacy, but not as old and has always been finicky, almost like a darn cat.

Very sorry, and I hope the vet says she still has time.

This heat does not help matters.

Sorry you're going through that. We had the same thing in December with a 12 yo and ended up having to say goodbye 2 days before Christmas. Fast forward to today, we are going through it again with my 9.5 yo lab. He still has a good attitude, but energy level stinks and he isn't eating like normal. Going to get him to the vet to see what's happening.

I appreciate all of the kind words. Ive been through this as a kid many times and once as a young adult. but ive had her for more than 14 years...no matter how old you get this sure doesnt feel easier as you feel one of your best friends slipping through your fingers.

Very sorry your going through that. It is really tough when you know your getting close to having to let them go.

Sorry to hear that. Had to put down the wife's 12-year old fur baby yesterday who was having multiple seizures within a 24 hour period. She had her last seizure at the vet's yesterday and we made the tough decision.

I hate this for you. Our beloved 13.5 GSP, Mallard, is losing his back legs. Enjoy them while you got them.

Good luck at the vet. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Let her up on the couch with you and scratch her ears.

Sorry to hear that. I just had to put down my 13-year-old lab 6 weeks ago. It's painful and I wish dogs could live longer.

Had to do the same thing with my black lab in January of 22. She was almost 6. Kidney Failure. It’s not easy and we’ve all been there before. Prayers sent your way.

Well, Tag has a mass in his abdomen. Vet thinks it’s his spleen which likely means cancer. Took blood today and goes back Monday for X-rays. Not the news we wanted
