Nah, I think he's right. Yall are a little too emotional.... I don’t care what you think. I want my tax dollars paying for professional LE, not teenagers with badges. You need to lobby for more of your tax dollars to go towards pay for LE then. If you haven't noticed nowadays, police academy's aren't getting the recruit quality they used to get and the old heads are leaving in droves. Something to get a good quality recruit to sign up and something to keep them there (retention). DFW pays cops decent but trust me there's more money to be made out there and it can be done by working from HOME. Now, forget about the big cities and focus on the rest of the state...im gonna guess 50k a year average is what they make and they work their off days somewhere so they can pay bills. I’d rather see my tax dollars go to LE, than a lot of other things they do with it. As you can see there’s lots on here that took an oath to the constitution, and don’t even know what it is. I would gladly pay for more training and better wages than pay out lawsuits.

Haters don’t care about facts. 2- 3 million police encounters a day and maybe a questionable shooting 10-12 times a year. That gets way more attention than cops getting shot.
I just saw one today in Minnesota. Dude busts out with a rifle after cops knocked on door. I care totally on facts, that’s why I like filming our government employees, I’m to the point where I want to trust but verify. From our county officials to the presidency. There have been two people caught stealing tax payers money in our county, just look at what they done to Trump and Paxton. It’s hard to trust anyone in government with power. It’s hard for some to believe, but there’s corrupt LE all over the country, stealing drugs/money, protecting drug dealers, and some involved in murder. If your an honest law man, you have my total support, if your corrupt, you should be treated just like any other criminal. We the people pay the bills, and when some LE on here say we don’t have a voice in our government we pay for , that’s not a LEO that’s a tyrant. I don’t understand why LE hates cameras, it can help LE just like it can hurt them. Local law enforcement is about the most transparent of any government employee. It’s just the most violent. DOJ pushes rules to local authorities, but not for themselves. Do FBI wear body cams, does ATF we body cams? No. Cop who shot unarmed woman in Capitol was never identified until after he was cleared. Do an open records request to the federal government, you will get nothing. Local law enforcement is the low hanging fruit. 700k cops, hired from the gene pool. Multiply that with lower standards and people not wanting the job. The quality of hires will continue to nose dive.

I wonder how that capital police shooting would play out if it were a local officer from small town Texas, who shot an unarmed female for trying to enter a door? When socialists own the media like they do in America today, they use that power to promote agendas, I'm thinking the Texas officer would be front page news and on every opinion channel before the 5 o'clock news...and some here would fall for the agenda driven noise. Like I said this incident is sad all around, but when police are confronted with a weapon, after young officers are repeatedly trained that a guy with a knife from like 21 feet away can close that distance and attack them before they can draw and defend themselves...well, some incidents like this are going to occur, it involves human behavior.

honest people can make mistakes I agree. But when your rights are blatantly violated, that’s lack of training/ignorance of the law. There’s plenty of videos out there available for training purposes, unless they just don’t want to do it. The lawsuits will keep coming whether you believe in the constitution or not, tax payers shouldn’t be responsible for LE not knowing the laws.

honest people can make mistakes The average person should not fear the police. If the average person wants to feel fear about something, then just think of the medical community and associated insurance.

It is the ability to keep a clear head in extremely stressful and dangerous situations. In my 25 year career in Fire/EMS I've been asked if I've ever been scared to death. The answer is many times. Law Enforcement officers can say the same thing. Courage is being scared to death, but moving forward anyway. No training video can build that courage into someone. Some people are born with it, most people develop it over time. The Deputy that shot the Airman was scared. And that's OK. What was maybe not OK is how he handled the situation while he was scared.

Knowing the law and watching videos doesn't come close to preparing officers for real life shootings situations...the only way you will ever know how you would/will react is actually being involved in a real-life shooting. I have listened to nonsense for years about oh, I would have done this, or I would have done that, you are lying to yourself and your audience to claim you that know how you will/would react.

Bad deal all the way around for everyone involved. Lawsuits are going to happen whether the trigger is pulled or not, that's the society we live in today unfortunately. And like concho said, you can train a recruit to do all the right things but when [censored] hits the fan no one knows how that recruit will mentally or physically deal with it. I have been threatened with a lawsuit just for pulling a person only because of their color and i have been threatened with a lawsuit for pulling my weapon and holding someone at gunpoint that had a gun and wouldn't cooperate with my commands. It's a different world out there and only gonna get worse. They will never pay what it's worth, you just have to want to do the job no matter what because if we don't then who will? Also, they will never charge what cold beer is worth either. EOR

Good write up cleatas. If the DA decides to prosecute, it will go to the grand jury, we all know there will be a lawsuit regardless. I guess the lawsuits I’m mostly talking about is , filming in public, or filming police officers doing their duty, it is legal unless you interfere with them, there’s no need to approach them if they’re not doing anything wrong ( breaking any laws). They get thrown to the ground arrested, then charges are dismissed and the officer fired/suspened and the people sued. Some of these are just too simple, I don’t know if it’s training or egos? Watch some of the depositions, the attorneys will show, here’s the training you had, before that they said never had any training. Are they just filling out the blanks on these online training sessions and not reading them? I mean you have people that been in LE for a decade or more, that say they never had any training in civil rights. Then we get more of these auditors, some out to practice their rights, but a lot to get a paycheck.

IMO what causes the lawsuits is definitely tempers, ego, and just flat-out losing control of yourself in the moment. We all know people can video us and me personally I could care less. I have two video cameras on me at all times and likely several more that I don't even know about. I have been accused of stealing money out of a car during inventory and my camera cleared me. I LOVE cameras and I invite people to film me if they wish to do so. Hell you may catch a better angle that helps strengthen my case so don't get mad when your iPhone goes into evidence

The Deputy that shot the Airman was scared. And that's OK. What was maybe not OK is how he handled the situation while he was scared. I'd really like to know what he was told by the dispatcher, and what the 911 caller told the dispatcher was happening. From the first knock you can hear the urgency, almost fright, in his voice. Troublesome all the way around. There’s a lot about this that no one knows about except the investigators who are involved with it.
