Rangers just score their first run in 19 innings, 2nd inning solo HR by Adolis Garcia, his first in many games. His avg. has dropped 50-60 pts in last few weeks. Hitting in upper .240s.. They just need a little health.

Watched a few innings last night. Jack Leiter is nowhere close to being ready for the MLB. He didn't even make it out of the 2nd inning last night. His control is terrible and when he was ahead in the count, he eventually lost those guys to 2 HBP and a home run. He has a 16.39 ERA in 3 starts. I hope he gets it figured out, but it doesn't look promising for a return anytime soon.

Three solo HRs last night, not a lot of hitting otherwise, these guys are struggling to put hits and runs up right now. Lots of analysts were questioning when the Rangers picked Leiter #1 and his teammate, Kumar Rocker the next year after arm injuries. The knock on Leiter was his smaller size and fact he actually pitched very few innings in his 2-3 years at Vanderbilt as they generally got up big early and he was pulled early. He wasn't overly battle tested in the evaluators' eyes. So far he has proven many of those evaluators' concerns; he has looked horrible in all 3 MLB starts and just seems to groove very predictable pitches, which are often barrelled up and hit hard. Pretty sure he's given up 5-6 HRs to Detroit, Oakland and now Cleveland. The unfortunate thing is that the bullpen until 9th inning, gave up no additional runs from 2nd-8th innings. I'd say trade Leiter but don't think he'd bring much in return. Bochy sure looked disgusted pulling the hook in 2nd inning and burning the pen.

Leiter and his 16.5 ERA sent back down to AAA Round Rock today, hopefully to not return this season.

To the surprise of nobody, it was an Astros pitcher, Ronel Blanco, who was caught cheating. Also to the surprise of nobody, Blanco denied using anything illegal, saying it was just sweat mixed with rosin.

I saw the incident as it played out, seemed like some sort of setup. When have you seen an umpire check a glove while standing on the pitchers mound. First base ump was waiting on the mound as Blanco came out to start another inning.

I KNEW 68rustbucket would defend the Astros to say "everybody else is doing it"! Ahh yes, the Astros were set up! First of all, pitchers can't have rosin on their non pitching hand. If he's too dumb to comprehend that, then he deserves everything coming his way. Second, umpires check pitchers multiple times per game, nothing new! He was checked in the 1st inning, so he thought he could get away with it after that. If he really was innocent, he would fight the suspension. But, he's guilty, so he is serving the 10 games.

So you have no comment on Scherzer doing it? People that glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks. Did Scherzer fight his suspension?

I also read that Blanco said he didn't know the rules about not having rosin on his glove or non-pitching hand.
If that's the case, the Astros coaches and GM Dana Brown are abject failures for not informing their players of the very clear rules that have been in place for 4 seasons now.

I don't blindly defend players on the teams I root for, but Scherzer was a Met!!! I don't give 2 sh!ts about the Mets. And he was guilty!! He didn't fight the suspension either. What else do you want me to say???

Scherzer had the opportunity to wash hands, change glove, and was checked later. I guess you’re admitting Scherzer was just as stupid? Still had same issue, you’re not really paying attention. Show me last time you saw the umpire check the pitcher on the mound, I’ve only seen them waiting at the baseline while pitcher is on the way to the dugout. It’s happened to a few pitchers since the latest rules were implemented. I don’t say EVERYONE else does it, but don’t act like your favorite team members have never been involved.

Bottom line based on Blanco's actions and subsequent statements, either he was intentionally cheating or the Astros front office and coaching staff suck at their jobs to ensure their players know the rules.

Merely pointing out obvious FACTS that you refuse to acknowledge with your blind loyalty impeding clear reasoning.

I was watching the game when it happened. I speak a little Spanish but not fluently. Blanco appeared to be surprised but who really knows. In the after game interviews, Astros manager Joe Espada made no excuses for Blanco. He straight up said, the glove had a white sticky powder in it that looked like rosin and It is against the rules to be in the glove or on the off hand. I gained a little respect for Joe Espada right there.
