I took myself out of the sport of hunting bucks because prices went higher than I was willing to pay. If I decide I want to spend money to shoot a buck, I am gonna go up to the Nebraska Panhandle where I stand the chance of shooting a nice white tail buck, but I will probably hold out for a muley buck since I can shoot either on the same license. Also, the 900 acre place did lease, so someone did not think it was too much, AND AS LONG AS HUNTERS are willing to pay those prices, things are not going to change. As I stated earlier on this thread, and have stated before on other threads, as long as HUNTERS are willing to pay the price, land owners and leasing agents are going to keep charging those prices. Depending on what is going on with the prices, Lora and I can go out and kill 10 does between us for less than even a mediocre lease would cost for one of us. When you look back over the past 15 years or so, and realize that hunter demand is what has been the driving force in running up lease prices, then you will comprehend the whole situation a little better. As long as you think it is the greed of the landowner or person that has the land to lease, that has elevated the prices, then you have not opened your eyes to the way things actually are.
