Water Softening Pellets
      06/30/08 08:48 PM

My folks just removed a water softening unit that hadn't worked sense they got their house. When they removed it, they found themselves with about 250 pounds of softening pellets. I don't know what these things are made of, but my dad seems to think they are salt and would be good to put out for deer. I've put salt licks out before, but I don't know what's in these pellets and some of these have been discolored by the city water they were softening. My dad's theory is that the discoloration is minerals that the deer will be atracted to. I'm not sold on this and I own the hunting property. I don't want to hork dear old dad off, but I don't want to hurt the herd either.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks!!
Matt
