This is the contact for the German Shorthair Pointer Rescue of North Texas and they might be able to point you in the right direction for some treatment options, i know they deal with HW treatment a lot on neglected dogs that come into their program and they seemt o have reasonable success. They could, at the very least, have some good resources for info and treatment.

just tell them your story and I bet they be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
