I just got off the phone with my uncle and yes HW may only live up to 1 1/2 but ivomec doesnt have the toxins in it to push or flush out the dead HW. If you give high doses of HW which is the only way to kill them they will die there in the heart and your dog will cough moe and more and fluid will build up in the lungs kinda like congestive heart failure in humans.Low doses wwill not kill adult Hw and only larvae.So it will not kill the adults and they will die after a certain time but will cause your dog to die because they will clog the heart. You do what you feel but look around at other vets also because I know aseveral that would let you pay it out and why isnt the person you bought your dog from responsible?How long have you had the other dog?
