There are a few downsides to them. First the battery life is pretty poor. Mine usuall will go through 6 D Energizer bats. in about 4 weeks or 400-500 pictures. I have used rechargable bats. and they last about 70% as long as regular batteries. The second complaint which is related to battery life is that it will take quite a few pics durring the day with nothing in front of the camera. i don't think this is related to shutter speed but to a cheap IR sensor. Overall for $100 it is not a bad camera. Just be prepared to shell out the money for some batteries. A couple of months ago I bought the 5.0 Infrared camera for around $220. The batteris on this camera will last around 4 months and it records temperature and moonphase. If you can aford it I would go with the 5.0 IR it will pay for itself in batteries eventually. I hope this helps. One other thing if you are going to buy a trail camera I highly recomend a Trail Pod. You will get fewer pics of noting in the day time and it is alot easier to place the camera where you want it instead of attempting to rig a camera to a tree. I hope this helps. Post Extras
