Making a four wheeler quieter...
      #542326 - 10/09/08 07:32 AM

Anyone ever use one of the aftermarket mufflers for 4 wheelers? Thinking about one for my Honda Rancher.

At first, I was reluctant because I was afraid they would kill the power, and not really help that much. After researching them on other forums, I may go ahead and give it a try. Here's a link to an ATV forum that I frequent. Just do a search on the Stealth Muffler. There's some good info, and it seems that everyone who's used them really likes em'.

i put the Benz silent rider on my yamaha big bear and it does as advertised.......it did quiet it down.....now i hear more of the "engine/mechanical noise" which isnt to bad if i ride easy and not hammer it. I have always thought the hondas were a quieter machine to start with though.....

Vernon look at arkansasduckhunter.com
thats where i got mine, and they offer a satisfaction gaurantee, even if you just dont like the sound reduction....easy install too.

just my .02

I second arkansasduckhunter.com. That is where my broher got his and it made a world of difference on his polaris.
He loves it, and doesn't affect its performance.

No doubt, but its about 3 miles on a cold morning, I am scared of the yotes and panthers and chuca's and grizzly's and you know I am rather large.....

I'll walk the last 100 -200 yards...

We just ordered a small round muffler about 18 in long and about 6in in diameter. Then used stainless flex tubing to connect the muffler to the muffler and the draped the rest off of the back of the other until it was about 6in from the ground. We secured the muffler to the bottom of the rack with rubber straps works great. Has lasted longer than the store bought one did.

I just put it in neutral and have the old lady push me to the blind, that way she is good and awake by the time she gets back to camp to clean up and cook breakfast before she jogs back down to meet me so she can push me back to camp to eat my breakfast. She complains but hey baby gas is expensive.

nope, she was right on time this morning. had a good flock of ferral mallards and muscovys feeding at your favorite park bench, er... blind.

there was a good number of white geese circling the next bench down as well, so be sure to get out early opening day or you might have some barneys down winding your ben... blind. just a heads up

I just think it would be less impact. I don't think its a big deal, killed many a deer from near it. Just thinking about investing to make it quieter. Would be nice for hogs here at home too.
