OUTFITTER QUESTION?
      #539340 - 10/07/08 05:34 AM

Asked my wife what she wants to do for our 30th anniversiry and she says she wants to go on a whitetail or muley hunt with a outfitter with a good lodge and meals and a chance to shoot a 150 class or better. Now is that a good women or what? My question is do anybody on the forum know of a good outfitter in texas that they have been to that they would recomend and what did it cost?

I would go with one in Colorado, New Mexico or Wyoming for a truly nice animal. You will probably pay a bit more(not a lot)but harvest a much nicer buck for your money.

Good Luck and Congratulations on having such a wonderful wife.

I will second the Colorado or Wyoming idea, especially Wyoming.

For just a Muley, and the size you are looking for, figure 2500.00 to 3500.00 per person and that does not include license, and that should be either a 3 day or a 5 day hunt.

I believe a good outfitter might be able to put together a combo hunt for Muley and Pronghorn for about 3500.00 in Wyoming, again, that is not including the license.

I think a hunt in Texas for Muleys that size are gonna start at 3K and go up from there. JMO.

WOW looked at some prices and 4 grand apiece! That is nuts, I love the wife but over 8 grand for us to hunt is more than i am willing to pay. Is that the norm for most hunts? I would go 4 grand but not 8

As I was responding to your pm, I looked at another site, and one guy has Trophy class Mulie hunts in Texas, 180 to 200 class Bucks that are 3k with a 3k kill fee, 6k for one deer.

I think if you look around, a Muley only, and they may or may not be of the quality your esposa is looking at, can be done for 2k to 2.5K per person, but it probably won't be in Texas. JMO.

I am working as guide this year for Ben Koonce at Quatro Venado Ranches in Throckmorton. I know that he doesnt have any Muley's but he does have some 150+ whitetails on several different places in the Throckmorton area. He has really good accomodations at the lodge and the his wife Becky cooks the meals at the lodge and I can honestly say that her cooking is awesome! Here is the link to his website and you can contact him directly from the site if you are interested. Please let him know I sent you his way if you do contact him. If you would like more info from me just PM me and I can fill you in. http://www.quatrovenadoranches.com/
