Any advise on Therma Cell???????
      #535996 - 10/03/08 12:27 PM

I am thinkg of purchasing a Therma Cell this year. I thought it was just a new gimmick when they first came out but they are sticking around. I am a die hard scent freak and dont want anything that might spook the deer. Has anyone out there had a bad experience or good experience with them? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I posted on this earlier this fall and yes they work great on skeeters and they do give off a odor that i can smell and have been winded a couple of times! Now in the defense of thermacell alot of the guys on the forum swear by um and love em. I would buy one and see what you think but i wont use mine and gave it away. To me if i can smell it the deer can!

I have one and love it... Never been winded... Last weekend I had several does at the base of my tripod feeding and they had no idea... One thing tho... Still spray your legs. Thermacells don't prevent chiggers...

I used the earth scented wafers on opening weekend and had deer within 10 feet with no problem.

I have used it on the 4 days I have spent hunting thus far during bow season and think it's the greatest thing since Rage Broadheads. Gotta get ya one.

I had a doe at 3 yards opening morning and she walked downwind of me and never smelled the theramcell. I will not go in the woods without one.

Where do you buy the earth scented refills?

Do the earth scent wafers also keep skeeters away, the only ones I have seen or used are the wafers that come with the refill packages. They did make scent wafers for a thermacell but I don't think it had the same repellant affect. But, I could be wrong.

I hunted with mine every hunt open weekend! I would fire it up at the truck...walk in and strap it to the tree! I was about 18-20 ft up and never had any deer spook??? I wear a crap load of earth cover scent though????
It doesnt keep chiggers off though like someone mentioned!
