Dont know how much you could get. I know youve been killin a few and see what your thinking. I cant see anyone wanting a green skin, but i may be wrong. There is a market for tanned skins but you wouldnt be able to acheive the quality it would take to sell them and break even. You might go to taxidermy.net and post them as green frozen skins, you may get rid of them. There is an increasing number of bow makers utilising rattlesnake skins on there limbs, so you never know. My bet is they will want them tanned. Skinner

db Im not looking to buy, I have some I want to sell..its going to the new house fund.
Skinner I dont have ANY luck tanning them out, I already ruined 1 & dont want to mess up anymore. I have a magazine around here somewhere that shows rattler & copperhead on some traditional longbows. Being frozen, I cant ship them but can send them in a cooler with ice if someone is traveling thru. Or meet face 2 face. Like I said, its going to the new house fund.

Dont know what to tell ya. If you did tan them yourself, and it did turn out right, youd have more invested in it than you may get out of it. The only snake skin i ever tried to tan instead of salt and let dry, was a skin that stretched out almost six feet long. I bought a reptile tanning solution from Van Dykes, and did the snake skin in one bucket, and a four foot aligator in another one. Basically it was mostly vinegar and salt, and it pickled the skins. The gator turned out great, the snake skin turned brown. Best thing to do is contact a tannery such as South Texas Fur Dressers, or one in your area and have it done right, but then your out $20-$30 a skin, and thats about what youd get for em tanned. Did you ever check out Taxidermy.net? Skinner
