No the coons will climb or dig under the fence. we sit in the deer stand at night and spot lights the suckers and shootem That will get rid of them or trap them.

use carpet tack strips and wire tie them to each leg of feeder. cover the legs all around with strips.

We tried that on some 1 1/4" square tube legs, and it just seemed to give them more traction. And it tore us up every time we'd be filling feeders and forget about it being there. That stuff will tear you up if you back into it with just a tee-shirt on.

I use 1"x10' black iron gas line for my feeder legs, and the coons have never been able to climb them. I'd think a small diameter galvanized pipe, like you mention, should be the same. But trap them, and/or kill every one you see. Less to worry about.

The fence post pipe might work, try it. The thing with 4" pvc is they can't get a tight grip around it which they might on fence post. Dunno. The carpet tack strips have been around on a many leases and if it works for your, GREAT. But the ones I've seen all have coon hair in them where they just kept on trucking up to the corn.
