Mojo Dove-I Have Plans For You!
      #506440 - 09/03/08 05:00 PM

I had an idea that I have been kicking around and wanted to see if anyone thought this might work.

I want to use a Mojo Dove as a decoy for hunting coyotes. My thoughts are I can put the dove out in a field either right at, or just below the top of the grass and then hopefully the coyote will focus on the decoy and allow me to feed him a lead sammich..

And of course I'll be calling as well to bring them in or at least get their attention. My thoughts were that if the beating wings of the Mojo were hitting the grass that it might sound like a hawks wings hitting the grass when they grab ahold of a rabbit on the ground.

I tried it with no success. I use a Whirling Woodpecker, which is a similar concept, and have good success with it.

I hang my Whirling Woodpecker on a limb and set my FX5 under it and it's party time

Do the woodpecker decoys work regardless of the sound you are kicking out from your game caller ?

yes, the woodpecker keeps their eyes off you. Most practical in daytime set ups.

Thats just because we aren't as young as we use to be brother, and our Whirling Woodpeckers don't work as good as they use to,... thats all
