I've been looking to get a launcher and like some that gune dog supply has. I really don't want to spend more than I have to. Are the manual ones going to be ok to train with? I don't want to spend the extra money on a electronic remote version unless it's really a must.
Also, any name brand suggestion would be appreciated.

Yea it will be okay at first but once you start getting into more advanced training you will wish you had a remote.
Unless you can always have a helper, I would pay for a manual. Its hard to fumble with the cc of the dog, the cord of the manual and a gun.

how old is the dog? what exactly are your trying to teach? Getting the dog to point? manners on game?

get a bumper boy if you dont care about using real birds every time. If not get a gunz up winger.

I have two of the Innotek remote launchers, I can't imagine trying to work the dogs, the manage the birds, etc. and try and pull the launcher rope at the right time. The DT Launchers are better only because you it's easier to load the birds. I got my two for $300 from one of the other gun dog forums. If you watch ebay they are on there all the time. I've noticed they sell easy once you're done with them. Go with the remote and you won't be sorry.

There is a guy in Vernon trying to sell two innotek launchers and a remote for 400. Its on gundogsonline.com. I agree that the remote makes its a lot easier and allows you to pay more attention to your dog that looking for and pulling a string.

Thanks, that a prject I could sink my teeth into. Where did you get the actuator and trigger?

I just did a search on the web, you could probably find cheaper on ebay, but I dont like to use ebay. The only real issue I had putting this together was my choice in radios. Dont use Motorola with the VOX feature or any like that. Buy the cheapest/simplest radios you can find, I got a high dollar motorola set and ended up buying a cheap set from wal mart that worked.
