Diamond (sport) vs. Pro plan (performance)
      #497001 - 08/25/08 03:52 PM

what are yalls thoughts on these 2 brands. I feed one of them allready but want to know which is the better food for labs. They are around the same price so that is not an issue. Just want to feed the better food. I have my opinion but wanted some imput before I change foods.

I like the Pro Plan Performance. I've never used Diamond so I can't give you a comparison but I've been satisfied with the PP Performance.

where are you getting this at? Pro plan is more expensive than diamond everywhere I have ever seen. if they are same price pro plan hands down but the bags are also smaller right?arent they 37.5 vs. 44 and 50 for diamond?

Taking into account the cost of fuel and what the nornal price's are they are about the same. As for size it is 37.5 vs. 40

here's the run down on both. I only feed Diamond and only to pointing dogs (with the exception of a couch Lab who does fine on it and keeps a svelt 55# frame) I don't have any experience with Pro Plan. I see obvious differences in the amount of fat that is carried in the Diamond, could be bad for a weekend lab, but good for a high octane lab. also, no corn in the Diamond and it carries Glucosamine and Chondroitin for hips and joints. Diamond also has Omega fatty acids for coat and skin. Overall, they are both good foods, probably depends on what works best for your dog. I can tell you that anything over 30/20 will make a normal dog F-A-T. High octane foods are for high octane dogs. Also, you can get any of this stuff witgh over the counter supplements also.

I personally like the Pro Plan Performance, have fed it for years to all dogs coming and going out of the kennels and they have always done well. Owners are usually suprised when they see the coat difference in their dog while they have been fed pro plan.

diamond doesnt work for my dogs. dry skin, runny stools and paint peeling gas. tried several different types of diamond including the natural which has no corn. not good for my dogs. pro plan cleared all that up except the dry skin. now i got them on innova and innova evo during the season. POW! performance is top notch and no issues. nice shiny coat. personally i like to see at least teh first 2 ingrediants meat and no corn

I have tried several and Pro Plan is where I am staying. My dogs have done the best on Pro Plan. Their whole demeanor and overall health has improved dramatically.

Based on the nutritionals, looks like Diamond is the superior product. As for the gas, can't say, my dogs sleep outside in a kennel.
