Duane, I spent tons of time in KY. All my family is from Mulenberg Co. (Western) My father went to school with Merle Travis (wrote Sixteen Tons) sung by Tennessee Ernie Ford, written about the coal mines where my grandfather and father and most of my family worked! Squirrel hunting was always the big thing there and it also opens in Sept. My dad taught me to hunt squirrels barefooted so I wouldn't make noise. My feet would get as tough as soles on a shoe! My fondest memories are still there and I'm drawn back there always. Most of my family now live in Evansville, Ind. just across the Ky. state line. Every year we would load up and go from Dallas to Kentucky in September for squirrel season. I lived there while dad was in the army also. Its a beautiful state.

he lives in independence, ky. but we will be hunting west of there close to the indiana border. he knows some farmer that owns most of the land around there. he also has 280 acres of some prime land. he just doesnt hunt much. i talked to my uncle more today and he told me he has another friend that hunts everyday. he said there were some huge hogs and deer.

I got the chance to go during Muzzleloader Season 2 yrs. ago and killed 4 deer. They have a very liberable bag limit on doe and you don't actually tag the deer, you have to call an 800 number and they will give you a code to write down on your license for recording purposes. The out of state license I believe came with 1 buck and to doe tags and you can go back and get as many doe tags as you want for a minimal amount. You purchase the doe tags 2 at a time. We were hunting just north of Paducah near some river that a farmer gave permission to my friend. They were flocking into the soybean fields we were hunting and then we would set up drives along small washouts and you almost had to step on the deer before they would jump and run. We only hunted 3 days and it was a ton of fun. Good Luck!!

Check that doe comment. Every county has their own regs on does. Some are 1 and some are done and as he said some are 1+ each additional for $12.50. I hunt Christian County at the west end boardering Pennyrile State Forest. Two words of advice. 1)- Chiggers....they are nasty out there in Sept. 2)- Non-typicals freaking amazing
Good stuff for sure. Hunt soy instead of corn if available
