Anyone headed down to Pearsall on 7/19 to check out the awards show? I'll be there as its my first year to get a jacket after many years of trying. Not sure how the turnout will be though since they've moved from SA for the first time (I think).
Anyone else going?

cracker, I'll have a replica there. The actual rack won't be there, but I anticipate that the replicas will be very good.

I'll be there..... we are staying at the ranch outside of town all weekend and hog hunting than running over to catch the banquet.

Lol, yeah there is no one offering me a replica of my deer. Then again, I'm about 50 inches short of yours.
See you guys there.

Grayson: just curious, how much does it cost to have a replica made? Can pretty much any good taxidermist do it, or is it a specialty? thanks

Mine are 1100 for the mold and first set, and 400 for each additional set. From my research, I think this is on the low/reasonable end of the pricing scale. My buck was fairly straightforward; a more complex rack would have been more $$.
It's definitely a specialty, and while many taxi's probably can and will do replicas, I am using one who has experience with some of the big South Texas deer that are killed every year (by the big-money South Texas hunters). In other words, if **** ***** big-money hunter is using this guy, I think he's pretty good.

Grayson: thanks for the info. Any chance that you could post a pic of your buck?

You have to enter the contest before you kill, and he didn't. Guess I probably should have entered for him.

Don't know about "set" but we're getting there. Had trail cam pics of a mature buck hitting one feeder until an oil well road got put in 40 yards away.
