Probably a cheap on sale 3x9 Nikon, bushnell at Academy. Cost more money for some reason and hard to find but a fixed 6x. I took my scope off my 3030

Tasco makes a good scope and it is priced reasonably.

A 2x7 Leupold or just a straight 4X will do nicely.

My dad bought one of the those burris fullfield packages( Scope and bio) He didn't want the new scope so I took the very old weaver off and put the full field II on. It has the ballistic plex on it. Well I got to messing around with it and with the new hornady ammo, it preformed pretty good at 100, 200 and 300. well it was right on at 100 and 200 yard 300 was suspect, but then again its a 30-30. Any way I'm really pleased with the scope for that gun.

I'd go open sights or a fixed 4x.

If that 2X7 Redfield Brother-in-law has is one of the older ones it's a great little scope! I had one of those back in the early 80's and it worked great for me! It would be great for a 30-30.
