Moultrie
      #450590 - 06/30/08 11:39 AM

I had to send back my new D-40, and even though I have had trouble with a few moultries, their customer service is to notch. They have replaced each camera I sent back with no issues, and gave another year warranty with each. Well this time they even upgraded my d-40 to a m-40 for 50 bucks. I hope this model is better than the last. Got to atleast give them credit for their customer service. Just thought I would pass along this info.

Brad,
We actually had one crap out this weekend??? SD card locked BS?? I just put on low pic quality and pull them off with a cord! I can get around 100 pics....Louie has sent a couple back to Moultrie and they have treated him right! I think I am going to buy a Cuddeback the next go around! I will try to post pics of the fishing trip and Louie's hog tonite! He shot the mama which was not too big. I of course missed the little ones....shotgun next round! Shot at 2-3 pm in 100 degree weather! We were actually setting up a new blind!

I am not real happy with my leaf river right now, maybe I don't have a setting right. It has only taken maybe 40 pics of animals in almost a month. My other cams are getting atleast 40 a night. I put it in the place of the one I sent back, and it was getting a bunch every night.

Still looking forward to the pics.

I'm getting the "SD card locked" error myself on my 2nd moultrie camera. I sent it back and they couldn't duplicate the failure and they sent it back. The error is intermittent now. Now the focal point is 2ft from the camera. Everything past that is blurry. They replaced the 1st due to the flash not working after a month of use. The flash on my latest (3rd and last moultrie) failed after 2 weeks of use. I still have to find time to send that $150 (on sale) camera back. They have responsive and polite customer service but I'd rather not to ever find out. Sending these things back is $10 a pop.

Mine too. SDcard locked. Now the display is blank every time I swap out the memory card. I could turn it off and then back on and it would be fine but now im only getting a few pictures or none at all.
I brought the cam home and set it up at the back door. within 1 day I could see the display was starting to fade out, by the 3rd day it was blank again. guess i'll send it back to Moultrie.
It was a good game cam. ran 24/7 for a year and half.

What I have noticed is that if you send one back...they will send you a refurb back! This happened twice to Louie Tiger...he said enough is enough the last time. He sent it back to Moultrie and for 50 bucks he got a new one??? I have had great luck with mine?? Another member has 3 cuddeback and they are great! They take clear pics and never just get the ars end of the game! I guess you learn as you go! We just set ours back up this weekend....Oh yea corn 9.75 and protein is 11.75....

I have bought 12 game cams (several different makes - mostly Moultries) over the last 3 years. Have returned or discarded all but one. It still works, but doesn't take pictures at night. When it craps out, and it is only a matter of time, I am done with game cams. Way too frustrating. I would estimate failure within the first year at over 75%. Amyone who claims to have game cams that work is either extremely lucky or is in the business of selling cams.

I have one of the older 2.1 moultries, for 2 years now and it is still working better than all my others. I went through the sd locked thing also. I have one on my porch that will not do anything but say sd locked.

Brad..you can use the one that says SD card locked! Just put on low pic quality and it will take about 100 pics, but you have to use the cord to connect to the computer! You still working???

Knock on wood, haven't had the sd problem. The only issue I've had are getting my camera pointed the right direction so it doesn't detect the temp changes through the day. I pulled pics from my I40 this weekend, over 1000 since mid April. I think I set it out in Feb and it still had 69% on the original batteries. I haven't had time to go through all of the pics, I know a big majority are temp changes, and I did see several of the rear of a coyote, but he's not coming all the way to the feeder (I don't think).
Oh, I buy mine at Cabela's. I was told the other day when I inquired about the warranty I on a reel I was buying that it doesn't matter what the factory warranty is, "you can bring it back at any time if you are dissatisfied". I remember when Walmart was that way!

I have even an older Moultrie, it is the 1.2 with the 6volt lantern battery. I had to connect 3 solar chargers to the battery in order for it to stay charged but since I got continual power to it, it has been respectable. Takes 400-500 pictures a week and the quality isn't that bad. I have had it for going on 3 years.

They may say that all cams after 2007 will work, but the experience you will gain in the near future will lower the percentage from 100% to under 25%. POS all of them.

I drilled a hole in the bottom of mine and placed a connector in the bottom to plug in the battery. I built a seperate case to hold the battery so that I can keep the battery out in the sun next to the chargers and the camera can be 300 ft away on a game trail where the east Texas trees eliminate the sun. I just have to run my wire through the trees. Works darn good.

I would consider going to the Moultrie I40 camera. It is awesome and batteries will last 3-5 months and no flash scaring off deer. I have 4 or 5 cams from previous generations and this is the first that I really really like.

I've had a leaf river IR for almost 3 years and have never had a problem with it. My bother has the Moultrie IR and it takes better pictures but he has only had it since dec. so the jury is still out on it

uhhh....before spending the kinda dough it takes to buy a cuddeback you might want to go to www.chasingame.com and read their camera reviews.

I bought a 2006 model cuddeback expert for either $299 or $399 in the summer of 2006. It was broke by Dec. 06 and has been to the shop for repairs twice and is presently broken.

I expect better for that kind of money!!!

I bought the I40 last year, I love it. The only 2 things I didnt like were the SD card is hard to get out and also the strap brackets on the back have broke. I have to figure out how to secure it now. But over all love the battery life and quality of pics.

We had the same issue with the SD locked, we cleaned the card and blew out the slot for the card and powered it off and back on and it worked.

That is how both of my old ones started, I would blow in the card slot and it would work. It got harder each time, and then it would never work. I got one on the porch right now that will not take a sd card no matter which one I use, and I have 8 cards.
