I have found some corn for $0.1125/lb. That's right at $5.63 per 50#. It's in good bags and I want to store some for a while. (My feeders are almost full).
How long will it be good to store if I put it in a dry covered barn??
And what should I do to keep bugs out?
Thanks

If you spray bug spray around them, and keep them dry they will stay good enough for deer for a very long time.

Is it in platic bags, or paper? I haven't had any issues with platic bags at all, but the paper bags get bugs in them. I think any kind of bug spray will work, and if you can keep the bugs away it will keep till deer season with ease.

Watch out for weevils if you're getting it this early. They might already be in the bags. Not sure how to get rid of them though...

i store my corn in sealed 55 gallon steel drums..you can keep about 250-300 lbs. per drum...with a sealed lid it will be free of bugs and the worst enemy...mice

When we bought in bulk we stored it in 55 gal barrels like Caprocker. Try to keep the barrels full. Even sealed barrels will cause the moisture in the corn to evaporate and then condense in open areas inside of the barrel.
The one thing to be sure of is that it cannot get wet, Corn will mold in a hurry, even corn that in plastic bags can mold. Large shifts in temperatures will cause the moisture on the corn to condense inside of the bag and start to mold. Weevils are something else, a natural vermin in the corn, and when they decide to hatch there is no stopping them.

I have been storing corn in plastic drums. With bags of corn I scatter moth balls on bottom of drum and have no problmes with pest. With bulk corn I lay sheet of paper top of corn and put moth balls on top of it. I scatter some around the shed to keep mice, snakes and other critters away. Works like a charm.

Shoot...now ya'll got me worried... I don't have enough 55 gallon drums and I am concerned about the condensation inside of the plastic bags...I was just going to stack them inside the shop (metallic building with concrete floors) with the windows open (but away from the corn)
I don't want to try and make a good investment and then have it ruined!

We have an old freezer. We took out all the shelving and laid it on it's back. It will hold 13 bags of corn. The plan is to rotate the corn in freezer everytime we get more corn.

You may find weevils or the larvae in the corn that you buy. Weevils damage corn by chewing holes in the kernels and laying eggs in the holes. When the larvae that hatch from the eggs feed in the kernels, their metabolism creates heat and moisture--conditions that make it easier for A. flavus to grow and produce aflatoxin.
Which leads to another problem. Aflatoxin and the effect on deer. http://www.tamuk.edu/news/archive/arch98/october/aflatoxin.html

The safest bet is to get it fed as soon as possible. Even protein, in bulk, isn't too good any more after about 90 days. Weevils, or their eggs can be in the stuff you buy from the dealer, the longer you hold on to it, the more they will hatch. And yes you will end up with powder.
Alfa toxin can be tough on deer, but it is devastating on quial. It doesn't take very high levels or very much to kill quail.
Times are tough and prices are high, but please don't be "pound wise and penny foolish".
On supplementing there are very few corners you can cut.

personally it is hard to do anything in the heat to keep it safe, sealed steel 55 g dums work great. Raise them off the ground, i have seen a semi trailer used, any trailer will probably work. if not covered tarp it to avoid sun exposure to the metal and heatin it up so bad.
