trap and transport mule deer
      #450165 - 06/29/08 05:44 PM

does any one know of a place that imports mule deer onto hunting ranches?

its been done time and time again with whitetails and exotics, so i'm sure some ranch has done it.

I am not sure that any place is doing that these days.

Even though white tails and muleys are closely related, much of the muleys physiology and dietary requirements are a good bit different than white tails.

It was attempted a few times in the past, even by TP&W, by I don't believe anyone ever achieved the results they were after.

There was someone on the forum who talked about roping a deer and he didn't recommend doing it!!! I think it was 3 or 4 months ago!!!

I have roped an emu, a deer, and a scimitar horned oryx.

I also managed to live thru all 3 but it was simply due to clean living.

I am looking for a muley in the 180 class, if anyone has one maybe we could meet half way, exchange the fee, then open the trailer when I say pull, that way he will be free range.

No, the idoit was me, and I was horse back. Not a pretty situation and I ended up with a busted rib and 8 stiches, and we finally caught my horse a half a mile down the road. When someone a lot older then you says you have first loop there is a reason

Personaly I hope people never start moveing muleys around. If your part of the world dosn't have them, go some where that does. Going to the country where muleys live is a big part of the fun.

There was an auction somewhere here in Texas this weekend that was selling off Muledeer semen and breedstock, saw in a paper, can't remember which one tho.
